NPR did a story this morning about ALT, specifically about his tenure on ANTM and how he praised Alasia for that naked shoot while Tyra and Nigel were “empty and mean”. I just wanted to cry remembering how supportive and introspective he was to her and so many of those girls. I really miss him.

Mine is the very first shoot of C14 and his reaction to Alasia’s photo. She was clearly nervous and her confidence was knocked by the other judges, but ALT gave her (deserved) praise for her creativity and her willingness to try something out of the ordinary. It was such a sweet and kind moment. I hope that photo is hanging in his salon in heaven ☁️✨🖼

You could just tell how over all of it he was during the all star cycle. Many times the other judges put down his critiques and some of the challenges they had the girls do were not fashion related and he seemed so bored. That and when Tyra called him Nigel I cringed. I don’t blame him for not coming back after that.

What’s the theme?

Honestly I wanted to know what you’d all wear for this year’s gala, but think Lagerfeld was a bit of a dick. So what other themes would you prefer to see?

Andre Leon Talley would be so cool to pay tribute to - maybe by having a theme of emerging designers like he championed in his StyleFax column? Would give a huge platform to new designers and help us avoid Chanel ennui, like a showcase of new talent to help look to the future. (Would never happen as the big labels and Vogue would never allow, the idiots)

Or Vivienne Westwood would be a great person to honour in a theme (but they already did punk a few years ago)

Or something somehow honouring stylists?! They’re sort of behind the scenes, but are behind most iconic looks.

I almost feel bad now watching years later. Kayla was trying to get in character to do the Snooki shoot and even Shannon seemed to pity her questionable enthusiasm. And Lisa’s side eye inducing depiction of black women just seemed to confirm The Onion-type nature of the cycle and how it was really about who could make the biggest asses out of themselves.(May I point out that shoot wasn’t even the only shoot with blackface) Anytime a girl rightfully questioned the relevance of the shoots beyond exploitation, they would get sent home or fall out of favor with panel. (Bianca, Bre, Brittany). Honestly, if it weren’t for Allison or Andre Leon Talley this cycle would have been unwatchable.
