I've always interpreted these subs as "Look at this person of X demographic saying something relevant", so when someone shows off their own thing it comes out as a cry for attention "Hey look at me!".

On its own its fairly harmless, but if it becomes acceptable the precedent it sets is people to make posts with the INTENT of sharing it here, and that defeats the purpose.
