A couple from 90 Day Fiance have faced fierce criticism after launching a fundraiser page following a cancer announcement that was self diagnosed.

Brandan and Mary Denuccio tied the knot and starred on the hit TV series last year and revealed the seemingly devastating news over the weekend that Mary had colon cancer. Posting to social media, the couple "humbly" asked for donations to help with the cost of surgery that could be required for such a diagnosis and went as far as saying it would help "save her life".

However, doubts soon started to come from the pair's followers and questions were asked. This led to the couple quickly tweaking their initial request and admitting she hadn't actually been officially diagnosed yet but had instead decided on the issue after watching TikTok videos on the potential symptoms.

In a message from their joint social media page they wrote a note saying: "Just to be clear. We don't know if Mary have colon cancer yet. Yes she posted on her IG that she have colon cancer because she watch TikTok videos of what is the symptoms of colon cancer and she have all of it."

The statement went on to say a nurse told them last week that she could actually have appendicitis or a UTI and the couple were referred for further checks. Explaining the next steps, they noted that Mary needed an abdomen ultrasound and x-ray and are now waiting for a colonoscopy. They pleaded with fans to stop spreading fake rumours, before Mary hit out at those reporting her Facebook account after the request.

She claimed it is her source of income and said negative comments were giving her "a lot of pain" in her own personal outburst. She then slammed: "Now that I have health problems I can't work as a call center agent anymore because i'm night shift and that's bad for my health. When I die I want all the bashers to know that it's not very good to bash and judge people and say bad things to people who you don't really know. I want you to realize that when I die."

Their GoGetFunding page has since been withdrawn, with the final amount raised said to have been in the region of $1,300. Following the backlash, a representative of the site told TMZ it pulled the campaign following reports of suspicious activity. Brandan and Mary fired back however that it was they who took the page down due to negative comments.

Mary said: "I know i announced i have colon cancer. It’s just I'm so scared that time because i was in pain and i got all the symptoms. But we are still going back and forth to the hospital and have do all the laboratory requested by the doctors."

And in a follow-up video, Brandan explained further the tests his wife had required, including blood tests and ultrasounds.
