Lil Mabu almost shot himself when his gun fired unexpectedly while filming a music video - although some fans are calling it a stunt.

The rapper, whose real name is Matthew Peter DeLuca, was in the midst of shooting a music video with his friends when he drew a firearm from his trousers and began waving it around while dancing next to an open car door. Suddenly, a loud bang was heard.

Lil Mabu was propelled backwards into the vehicle, prompting his friends to instinctively duck for cover. In the video, which was shared on Twitter, the rapper can be heard urgently pleading: "Bro, stop, stop," before the footage abruptly ends.

Lil Mabu captioned the viral clip with: "rap snippet gone wrong #oppyday." The video has racked up more than five million views, but some fans are questioning its authenticity.

One doubter said: "I’m an editor I have that same Effect on my hard drive." Another commented: "You ain't no gangster fr," and a third remarked: "Knew it was fake cause if it was real there's no way he didnt shoot his self." (sic).

Another observer pointed out: "Its also not lined up correctly and there's no impact." Despite the skepticism, the video did manage to deceive some viewers, who expressed their alarm at the footage.

One worried fan remarked: "They easily fooled and it's scary," whilst another one asked: "Bro why is it even loaded and not on safety? " A third individual posted a zoomed-in snapshot of the moment the gun went off, stating: "Yeah ur pretty damn lucky."

Lil Mabu has not yet commented on the legitimacy of the video. The rapper came into prominence in 2020 following the release of his song Miss Me and further increased his recognition after teaming up with well-known artists such as Dusty Locane, DD Osama and Chrisean Rock.

He also saw significant success on TikTok, where his 2023 single Mathematical Disrespect garnered massive popularity. Notably, Lil Mabu made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 with this track.
