By default, you get email notifications for some activities, such as when someone comments on your post or your teacher returns work. Students and teachers can change their notification settings at any time. If you use Classroom on a mobile device, you need to update the settings on your device as well.
You can decide if you want to get email notifications about updates to your classes.
- Tap Classroom .
- At the top, tap Menu .
- Scroll down and tap Settings Notifications Email notifications.

Next to "Allow email notifications," tap the switch Off or On .
Important: This control affects most, but not all notifications. Examples of notifications you’ll still receive:
- Course changes, such as ownership transfer and copying a course
- Drive quota exceeded errors
- Abuse alerts for customer accounts
- Any notifications related to guardians
You can choose which email notifications you want to get for your classes. For example, you can turn off invitation notifications for all classes but keep assignment notifications on.
- Tap Classroom .
- At the top, tap Menu .
- Scroll down and tap Settings Notifications Email notifications.
- Turn on Allow email notifications.
- Next to each type of notification you want to get, tap the switch Off or On .

You can view all notifications from the past 30 days inside your Classroom Android app.
- Open the Classroom app .
- At the top left, tap Menu .
- Scroll down and tap Settings Notifications On this device.
- Next to "Show notifications," tap the switch Off or On .
Tip: If you don't see "Show notifications" on your device, tap the switch next to "All classroom notifications."
Important: You may not see notifications if you are not registered or do not have any.
You can choose the notifications that you get for all of your classes on your device. For example, you can turn off invitation notifications for all classes but keep assignment notifications on.

You can choose to get notifications for specific classes. For example, you can turn off notifications for your Math class and still get notifications for your other classes.

- At the top, tap Menu .
- Scroll down and tap Settings Notifications Your classes.
- Next to the class name, tap the switch On or Off .
You can read notifications in your email program or in your device's notification center.
