AITA for telling my kids not to bother visiting if they insist on calling another woman mom by othermompost in AmItheAsshole

[–]SmashedPumpkin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA holy shit. “My 10 yo is just sensitive”. As someone who tried speaking up as a child, only to be told this, and is now struggling with a lot of mental health issues, I’m so glad they actually have a mom (their step-mom) who gives a shit about them.

From the bottom of my heart, fuck you!

I don’t speak on voice in video games anymore, cause the majority of the time it’s either: “send nudes/feet pics/your snap etc… “ OR it’s “You suck you worthless bitch, get back in the kitchen, wow you missed that shot you useless woman”.

Bonus points if it’s in a ranked game!

Period of police training in western countries by HotDressa in facepalm

[–]SmashedPumpkin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s an ongoing story of police violence here in Norway currently. A man in his mid-twenties was beaten by a police officer while other policemen were helping to pin him to the ground. A surveillance video has been released, and the case is ongoing. The policeman was still working last time I checked, but I’m pretty sure he’ll end up in prison. Other members of the police are also being charged for falsifying reports and trying to erase evidence.

This doesn’t happen often in our little country, so it’s hard to say how we “usually” handle stuff like this, but I’ve yet to hear of anyone other than his lawyer defend his actions.

What exactly are you criticizing me for? I simply pointed out in the comment you responded to that there’s some irony to the original comment. I haven’t really been too vocal about my political views in this thread

First of all, my comment was simply providing a source to back up the original post.

To answer your question, there are many reasons I comment on US politics. - We live in a globalized world, and what happens in other countries, especially in countries like the US, can have an impact on my country too. - This is Reddit, and it’s not exclusively for Americans. I can comment on us posts, just like Americans are welcome to comment on posts about my country - When people are senselessly murdered, including children, I don’t care where it happens. Even though it’s happening far away, that doesn’t make it any less tragic, and it evokes a lot of emotions anyway

There’s a lot more reasons, but those were the ones I came up with at this point in time

I’m very against generalizing, and do not believe all Americans are like this ignorant person, I just think the sub fits incredibly well for this post. The idiots are just so loud all you normal Americans get lost in the chaos

And yes, it is a reference to the band!

Huh? I’m not even American, so I don’t know what you mean by “you people”. I am, however, Norwegian, and even I have heard of many mass shootings in the us this year.

I think the sister who saw it happen said she knew him beforehand unless I’m misremembering. But it might’ve been a family friend that was referred to as their uncle rather than their actual uncle. It also took a while for her sister to speak up because she thought she’d be in trouble (poor girl), so her mom could’ve fed her the story for all we know

The fact that she desperately tried to get help by calling the police and talking to the waitress too, and then no one was able to help her. It’s incredibly heartbreaking

It’s a subjective word, but yes, maybe I used it poorly here. My comment was definitely influenced by the video of her, cause even though I’m “defending” her in a way, the video still made my blood boil. We also don’t know for sure if the assumption that she was in shock is true. If the video is to be taken at face value, then she is definitely a monster

Ok, I misunderstood then.

If you drive while drunk, then I’d argue that you are a really bad person. You risk not only your own life, but others’ as well. It is an incredibly stupid and reckless thing to do, and it’s well documented to lead to slower reaction times and poor decision making. There’s no excuse for it at all.

She was definitely in denial/dissociating in that footage. The alcohol combined with what had just happened, made her brain act that way. She is still a monster though, and guilty of ending two lives because she chose to drive after having consumed alcohol, which is what she should be judged by, not her act in the video.
