Teacher here. Pay me a professional's wage and I'll put on slacks. Until then, jeans it is.

I'm a Special Education Teacher. I would not be able to help laughing in the face of anyone who tells me to try to do what I do in "more formal" clothing. As physically active as my job is, I don't think you can pay me enough to run a mile in a dress and formal shoes.

I'm over 25 and I've just reflected on the message I'm sending and it's that I'm comfortable as fuck and confident about it.

Someday I'm going to write a guide for how to detect sarcasm online, because it's really not that hard, people are just fucking morons.

"Weak passwords" need to stop being regulated by duskfanglives in unpopularopinion

[–]Dazz316Steak is OK to be cooked Well Done. 333 points334 points  (0 children)

Yeah you say that but when you get hacked, whose goiung to get the blame? Them. They allow weak passwords. When your accounts get used to fuck you over, they'll get the blame.

And they don't want that publicity. They want to be able to say they have a strong secure service.

When you have to trust the average user to be the gatekeepers to small sections of their website. You make sure their locks are strong. Because you KNOW 1000 idiots will have them as Password1.

Not only that but if their security is shit and you loose money. Oh the same people not giving a fuck suddenly do and OMG I'M SUING YOU!.

Get a password manager.

If your partner cheated on you and you took them back you have little to no self respect by SegaSteamcast in unpopularopinion

[–]Jomskylark 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This is a bizarre comment. Telling someone who experienced cheating firsthand that they're wrong about the difficulty of leaving someone they're close with. When they literally experienced this themselves and had difficultly leaving.

Asserting that the only reason it's difficult to leave is because they want to be in a relationship. You really thinking the bond with someone over a period of perhaps many years plays no role in the difficulty of leaving a cheater?

How about instead of telling them they're wrong just say that relationships can be complicated and it can be different for everyone.

Stop judging people by the type of work they do. by joemac364 in unpopularopinion

[–]centaurea_cyanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh, I totally agree. The first thing anyone asks you is, "what do you do" as in what is your job. To me that means that they think the most important part of me, my personality, my life is my.. job?

My personality is not my job thank you very much. There are numerous things that make up my identity and my job is only a small percentage of that and, for many people, it's not a percentage at all and that is perfectly fine.

Fuggin capitalism takes over every aspect of life.

I think the people living on the streets should be forced into government housing with no option to live in public spaces by fredsam25 in unpopularopinion

[–]JackTheJackerJacket 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Ooh! Ooh! I got it! What if we then pay the government to put some Law Enforcement whose task it to watch over that specific housing section and maybe fence it off while having everyone check in through a main gate with metal detectors? While we're at it we should have put their personal posessions in a locker and have them wear uniformed clothing for easy maintenance. We should also fingerprint them and take their picture just in case we need to find them or something.

What should we call this place?

How tf did you manage to talk about a person's vagina like it's a grilled ham sandwich and a house up for sale at the same time

I'm not anti-work, I'm anti-getting exploited for my labor by jerks who get tax breaks and make record profits but still drive up prices.

If you shop on the day of thanksgiving, you're a horrible person by PleasantPhysics7982 in unpopularopinion

[–]shay-doe 524 points525 points  (0 children)

If you have a medical emergency on Thanksgiving you're also an asshole my family member is a nurse and another a doctor oh and an EMT who will be missing thanksgiving, if you have an uncontrollable fire on Thanksgiving you're a dick since my fire fighter cousin can't make it to dinner. If you are flying anywhere on thanksgiving to go see your family fuck you because I have a family member who works at the airport. The whole world should just stop because of me.

Honestly adults can manage their PTO if they really wanted to spend Thanksgiving they'd have been there. Odds are they'd rather work then be stuck at your family gathering.

As a perspective from a worker from the UK, the US workers are ruthlessly exploited.

I get 30 days PTO per year and there is no issue with taking them. I don't get hassled outside of work hours to cover someone's shift. I can call in sick without fear of dismissal.

The OP does not realise how overworked and stressed the antiwork members are.

Antiwork just means the current work practice is ethically unacceptable to many people.

It is unacceptable to be forced to take low paying wages with minimum job security and shitty work practices, and be afraid that if you lose that job you could end up homeless! There is huge wealth disparity in the US. The poor are getting screwed hard.

While I'm sure there are lazy parasites that glom onto the anti work group, it still makes more sense than being "pro work". Would you really prefer to give the VAST majority of your life to working a job that you hate for the sake of new phones, a new car, and all of capitalisms pathetic treats. Society is crumbling, and it's because capitalism is a meat grinder for the body and soul. Everything is a transaction, hence almost no social interaction or community. What if we used the technological advances to keep everyone fed and clothed, and taken care of and stopped buying and eating the poison this system is incentivized to produce? It takes personal growth and a love for those who are "sad" and suffering to come to this conclusion. Unfortunately, most people don't give a damn about anyone or anything but themselves.

If people claim America has no culture than neither does Canada, Australia and New Zealand. by Webkinz_69 in unpopularopinion

As a European I love American culture, and to suggest it doesn't exist is silly. Hollywood, country music, 250+ years of fascinating history, Blues, Bluegrass, Rock n' Roll, Jazz I could go on and on and on and on.

Stay awesome America!
