    🔍 The FACE Act is the main federal statute that protects abortion providers and patients. We obtained a never-before-released list of every FACE case filed by the Justice Department since 1994 and found that only 101 cases have been filed under the act.

    Protesters have also reported major threats against them. In an October 2020 incident in Orlando, a man dropping off a patient pointed a gun at a demonstrator who approached his car. Our analysis found that only a small percentage of calls by either side ended in arrests.

    Hundreds of calls were for relatively minor infractions such as trespassing and what police refer to as “suspicious” activity. But the majority in our analysis were more serious, like a man who tossed two Molotov cocktails into a Fort Myers clinic.
