    It’s like living through the prequel to Fahrenheit 451.

    It was always clear this is where we were heading. Should people who down-played the CRT propaganda campaign, or claimed anti-history laws were ok because they only targeted schools not libraries, or who said the laws weren't actually books bans, be worried now?

    In the past, I didn’t think much about what the word “income” meant when I did my taxes. After all, for most people, this is not a mysterious concept. It’s what you made. It says it right there on your W-2. But the past year has been a mind-expanding journey. A tax acid trip.

    And some of them (Joy and Jemele) didn't address the findings much at all but instead defended Alicia Garza to change the topic. But I guess that can be expected when the journalists and the activists are besties.

    🧵Ok, I am about to go off on rich donors who fund media and how they kinda hide it and why you should know. For four years, I have been a lone voice in my circles asking if all the big tech money and politically motivated donors are really a good thing for journalism.

    I learned on Monday night, just as I was preparing myself to promote my first book, that my father had died. It's hard to know how to feel about it. I hadn't seen him in 18 years, for good reason, and I can't say I respected the man. But it put me in a strange head space ...

    Glad I got to speak with today and give some insights from my reporting. I hope anyone who gives it a listen takes to heart that the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation is not the modern civil rights movement for Black lives.

    He had stronger words for the organization, but his main thought was: "I hope it wake people up, but I just don't want people to quit. I don't want the funders to quit." And he's not talking about corporations. 9/

    Russell has been working with Mike Brown Sr–father of the slain Brown Jr whose death at the hands of police sparked national outrage in 2014. This property is on the books but Russell can't pull together enough money for a community center in Ferguson. 7/

    This isn't necessarily fraudulent but it’s probably a waste of resources. Tory Russell, activist in Ferguson, thinks so. More than angry he became depressed when I told him about the property, thinking about what could've been done with the money. 6/

    When I spoke with nonprofit experts, they told me that the luxury home and pooling of resources with interrelated entities raises red flags for nonprofit operations. Some said a formal investigation might be needed to sort everything out. 5/

    Through reporting, I learned that the BLMGNF has pooled resources with consulting firms run by Patrisse Cullors, the former exec director, and Shalomyah Bowers, the dep exec director, to monitor social media and investigate journalists including myself. 4/

    When I asked, my questions were called defamatory and the BLMGNF jumped into a mode where they sought to kill my story or detract from its findings. I know this because I later acquired a memo of their plans. They looked to bury the truth. 3/
