    Um yes yes yes! The school of Criminology have used their “science” to justify the will of the coloniser for a very long time and are absolutely complicit in every act of carceral violence, especially when they are theorising about the “Indigenous crime problem”

    And requiring her to explain why is similarly fkd. And look I’m not a criminologist by any stretch but I’m most curious about what constitutes this *Indigenous criminology* that they speak of. Does it include Indigenous scholars or nah?

    White women need to give up power in the conversations and action around criminalising coercive control. The silencing of both Blak academics and victim/survivors of violence is itself a form of violence!

    It’s pretty disgusting how the expertise of black women is continually downgraded — and this expertise drawn first and foremost from community! You can’t propose solutions from overseas without looking at very specific circumstance & history here

    A simple search would show that sis has *some* expertise...

    Not the first white woman to do this to a Black female scholar on social media too. It’s like Aboriginal women are meant to be subjects in need of saving or disciplining within criminology but never the knowers 🤔

    I remember when early career Karen and her managing editor took me through years of hell trying to get an article published only to have it excluded - bc of defamation. I got to write this instead.

    In related news, it was an article that spoke out against the animalistic accounts of Aboriginal ppl authored by a lawyer who is now a magistrate. And yeah they were her own clients and they were kids.
