How stupid are we? It’s so easy to clean up DC Swamp. Every elected politician should be asked questions attached to lie detector test. If they pass, they keep their job. If they fail, fired and/or arrested, If they refuse, they should be immediately terminated. Simple.
How stupid are we?
The jokes just write themselves , eh Dwayne...?!
...and we'll start with the most obvious one: A lie detector machine connected to the paper said questions are written on.
questions attached to lie detector test
Hey: you said it, we didn't.
Well, there are three issues with the idea.
1. Lie detectors aren't the most accurate. You can train to pass them, they can give false results.
2. As much as I'd like an easy way to remove corrupt, do nothing, obstructionist, terrible public officials like say, Mutch McConnell, they do have their 5th amendment rights against self incrimination and there are rules for removal of bad elected officials. They should use the rules more often, but making up a test like this would be a bad idea.
3. Politicizing the test would be an issue. If they are already shielded by the 5th amendment from confessing criminal acts, what other questions would you have, biased policy ones that would likely cause issues with the already not steller lie detectors?
How stupid are you? I'm not sure there is an end to your stupidity.
If you really want to drain the swamp, overturning the ability for corporations to funnel ungodly amounts of cash into influencing politicians, make politicians financially transparent, make sure that politicians actually do their jobs and vote on measures that are brought up, fill seats as needed in positions of government, that sort of thing.
The main reason for the "Swamp" is you have a group of politicians who want the government to fail and get rich while doing so.
If you really want to drain the swamp, try these:
Eliminate the Electoral College.
Publicly fund political campaigns. Private contributions go to the general fund, and any contributions from individuals, groups or corporations that go to candidates are considered bribes and are prosecuted.
Require that all campaign material focus on the goals and achievements of the candidate, not on negative attacks on their opponent.
Institute a lifelong ban on elected officials becoming lobbyists. Likewise, prohibit those employed in an industry from joining any regulatory body for that industry, unless they can prove there is no conflict of interest.
In this era of teleconferencing, Congress meeting in person is largely ceremonial. Require all Members of Congress to maintain their only office in their home district. Not only would this eliminate the duplication of effort in maintaining two offices, it would make them more accessible to their constituents.
Require that all communications between elected officials be recorded and publicly available. Eliminate the deals struck at cocktail parties and in backroom discussions.
Based on the history of conservative majini, the answer Wayne, is that you are exceptionally stupid.
A talented actor can fool a polygraph.
Confused?
