    man released from jail for burglary after serving almost no time got wasted, stole a car, and killed two women last night. san francisco district attorney wonders how we can better help men like this in the future.

    We will make changes to ensure that people on parole receive the supervision and structure needed from parole to prevent this kind of tragedy from recurring.

    There’s a great system of “supervision and structure” for murderers that stops this from happening. It’s called prison. Terrible.

    Despite if CA is pro/anti tech, SF has a wholly separate problem. Failed government experimental policy has created a combinatorial crime spree & drug addiction/distribution machine that is spiraling out of control. Founders offering "support" won't fix this. Policy is broken.

    Tonight, for the fifteenth (15th) time in 18 months, and the 3rd time in 20 days, we are booking the same suspect at county jail for felony motor vehicle theft. This motorcycle, stolen yesterday, recovered by TL cops and returned to its very grateful owner tonight. See thread.

    I wonder when will the Bay Area start to ascribe its woes to the *departure* of the tech industry, after decades of attributing them to its presence

    It’s a Mayor’s job to attract high paying jobs to a city. Tech is revolutionizing every industry. Everyone city should be fighting for a larger piece of the ecosystem. It’s not only beneficial for our generation but for our children. We can doing it and focus on equity as well.

    I thought Democrats believed in science and scientists. I agree with Jason: This follows neither science nor good old common sense. People will move their social life indoors, which is strictly worse than outdoor dining (and obviously, worse for the small businesses impacted)

    this is insane We want folks to have dinner outside, these draconian rules that fly in the face of the science will drive people to group dinners in their homes! Reminds me of closing kids parks and the beaches... which drives families to have people indoors for social contact

    Ha ha. Sad, but funny. And so true.

    SF was always the Accidental Billionaire. Because of proximity to Silicon Valley, it benefitted from tech wealth its policies did nothing to create. Its collapse will redistribute opportunity to rest of country. So SF politicians will “spread the wealth” just not how they thought
