    Academia is strange. Get enough publications in the right journals and you'll be allowed to lead a team. No one checks whether you have the skills to lead a team, of course, why would they? you've published in journals. This should work out just fine.

    way bigger barrier to uni than HECS for low-SES students is paying for rent/living expenses while studying. That’s an area that needs a lot of reform. Not every student can live at home & a lot of people’s parents can’t afford to contribute, gets missed a lot in these discussions
