TOTW: Anarcho-Humility or Anarcho-Defeat

I am not a man of action. My brief experience with anything resembling activism ended with the whimper of realizing my flame didn’t burn quite as bright as those leading the march or drafting the petition. I didn’t discover a mystic tome of Nihilism and suddenly decide that all was lost and it was time for something new; instead I lost a fight with myself before it even began.

How bomb blasts a century ago launched the Red Scare and a raid against Paterson anarchists

From northjersey.com

The explosion hurled the sleeping Morris family of Paterson onto the floor in a tangle of limbs and sheets. It pitched their beds. It shattered windows and propelled paintings from the walls.

It ripped wood boards off the house next door, and sent an upright piano skidding across the floor.

The sound of the blast could be heard outside Paterson City Hall, a mile away. One neighbor told a reporter their houses “rocked like a cradle.”

Anarchy Bang: Introducing Episode 22: Sex

From Anarchy Bang

Early 20th Century Anarchists, like Emma Goldman and Emile Armand, yearned for a new sexual liberty: polyamory, bisexuality, nudism, and fluid gender, if desired. This impulse did not come from a shallow hedonism, but from the understanding that sexual freedom is needed for so many decisions about our bodies and how we relate to one another.

The struggle against fascism begins with the struggle against toxic masculinity

Have you ever wondered how to talk dirty without reinforcing the patriarchy? Or what all the fuss is about polyamory? These are just two of the many topics tackled by the Anarcho Agony Aunts (AAA), an anarcha-feminist duo offering anonymous sex and relationship advice via their YouTube channel. The pair see what they’re doing as having a dual-pronged strategy: helping to tackle issues with dating on the left while also reaching out to young men who are preyed on by men’s rights activists and the alt-right.

From Act for Freedom!

Approximately one year ago, Orkanen (The Hurricane) published its first English edition, wherein we attempted to translate a few articles in correspondance with the repressive world of today. Following that publication, surely, we had the intention of completing yet another English edition soon after, but alas, so much to do, and so little time to do it.

Update on Eric’s Attack and situation

From Support Eric King

We have word for what went down with Eric at USP McCreary. On Friday may 13h the BOP’s attempt to send Eric to the CMU or communication management unit was rejected (his SMU or special management unit transfer request had been rejected 2 months prior). The BOP attempted to send him to these high security specialized prisons as a consequence for being attacked by a lieutenant and guards at FCI Florence, but we all can see it is a consequence for his continuing to speak out against the BOP and federal prison system. Communication management units are used to place prisoners in an incredibly isolated situation to severely limit communication with the outside world. These prisons are described as torture and deprivation by those who have experienced them. The special management unit is where the BOP sends the most “violent” prisoners in the federal prison system. They decided that he deserved to go to either of them though he didn’t qualify. They threw everything they could at him and it didn’t stick.

From Toronto Anarchist Bookfair

We are excited to announce the return of the Toronto Anarchist Bookfair! The 2019 Bookfair will take place September 28 at the Centre for Social Innovation – Annex, on the traditional territories of the Anishnaabe, Haudenosaunee and Huron-Wendat peoples. The Bookfair will be a space for everyone from experienced organizers to those simply curious about anarchism to share ideas and information, develop skills, and build the community capacity to create a world that aligns with our anarchist aspirations. There will be space to explore anarchist history and ideas, as well as their application to grassroots organizing and ongoing struggles. The Bookfair will include workshops, info tables, book sellers and social events. This is an accessible space that aims to centre BIPOC and other marginalized voices.
