GRAND JURY RESISTERS

Jordan Halliday *Released!*
Utah animal rights activist Jordan Halliday was charged with felony contempt of court for refusing to testify before a grand jury. This charge carries no maximum penalty. On July 27, 2010, Jordan plead guilty to one count of felony contempt. On November 3, 2010, he received a sentence of 10 months in prison. Jordan filed an appeal with the 10th Circuit Court which was denied. He began serving his 10 month sentence on January 10, 2012.

AWAITING TRIAL

Kevin Johnson M42382, Vandalia Correctional Center, P.O. Box 500, Vandalia, IL 62471. Kevin and Tyler were pulled over late at night in Roanoke, Illinois in what appears to be a routine traffic stop. When they refused consent to a search of the vehicle, the police searched the vehicle anyway. Inside, police allege they found bolt cutters, wire cutters, muriatic acid, ski masks, and cammo clothing. Kevin Olliff and Tyler Lang were subsequently arrested for “possession of burglary tools.” Their history as activists appears to be the sole basis for the charges. http://supportkevinandtyler.com/

Rebecca Rubin #98290-011, FCI Dublin, Federal Correctional Institution, 5701 8th Street - Camp Parks, Dublin, CA 94568. Rebeeca is serving a 5 year sentence on charges of arson and conspiracy for actions that occurred between 1996 and 2001 as part of the Earth Liberation Front.

Justin Solondz #98291-011, FCI Loretto, Post Office Box 1000, Loretto, PA 15940. Justin was indicted for multiple counts of arson, conspiracy and use of an "unregistered destructive device" in 2006 for his alleged participation in an arson at the University of Washington and an arson at the Litchfield Wild Horse and Burro Corral in Susanville, CA. On December 20, 2011, he plead guilty to a single count of conspiracy and a single count of arson for the arson at UW. On March 16, 2012, Justin was sentenced to 7 years in prison.

Fran Thompson #1090915, CCC, 3151 Litton Drive, Chillicothe, MO 64601. Fran is a prisoner in Missouri who has been sentenced to life. Before going to prison, Fran was a dedicated animal rights and environmental activist. After a man who was stalking her threatened to kill her and then broke into her house, Fran shot and killed him. Fran had taken on the prosecutor during her activism, and he used this as an opportunity to remove a threat to his power. http://freefran.noblogs.org/

MOVE is an eco-revolutionary group who carried out protests in defense of all life. There are currently eight MOVE activists in prison each serving 100 years after being framed for the murder of a cop in 1979. 9th defendant, Merle Africa, died in prison in 1998.

Mumia Abu Jamal, (AM8335), SCI Greene, 175 Progress Drive, Waynesburg PA 15370, USA. In 1981 Mumia, former Black Panther and vocal supporter of MOVE, was framed for the murder of a cop. He was originally sentenced to death but is currently awaiting re-sentencing following a court hearing in 2001.
