Introduce yourself!

Hi! I’m Joe Fahrner. I run our small and medium-sized business (SMB) team at Twitter HQ in San Francisco. My team focuses on connecting small and medium-sized businesses with tools such as Twitter analytics and Quick Promote that help them to be more effective and efficient marketers on Twitter.

What is Quick Promote and when would a business use it?

Quick Promote is a fast, easy way for any business to promote their favorite or most successful Tweets and reach a wider audience. Tweets can be promoted in just a few clicks, directly from the Twitter app or website.

Businesses use Quick Promote to get wider exposure for Tweets that are already popular with their followers or to boost a new Tweet that they want a large audience to see.

That sounds great. Now how does Quick Promote work?

Businesses can promote published Tweets directly from the Tweet or at analytics.twitter.com. Simply click on a Tweet you would like to promote, then select the bar graph icon.

This will show you the Tweet’s individual performance. Then, click “Promote this Tweet”.

Set a budget, target location, and confirm — and that’s it. The Tweet will be promoted until your selected budget runs out.

What are the best Tweets to promote?

Quick Promote is integrated into Twitter analytics, so a business doesn’t have to guess which Tweets are the best to promote. On analytics.twitter.com, you can see which of your Tweets are doing well.

Focus on those Tweets that have been positively received and use Quick Promote to launch them to an even wider audience. If you still can’t decide, select Tweets that have videos, pictures, or GIFS. Tweets with media attract more attention to your business.

Do you have a favorite example of Quick Promote being used well?

My favorite Quick Promote campaigns are those that give a “behind-the-scenes” view of businesses with photos or video. This helps humanize the business and creates really engaging content for potential customers.

I often see employees or executives, like the CEO of a company, using Quick Promote as a way to deliver the business’s message through their own, more individual voice.

Any final tips for SMBs on Twitter?

Yes, my tip for businesses is to check their Twitter analytics dashboard frequently. It’s a powerful and easy-to-use tool for getting all types of insights about your Tweets and your followers. You can see your best-performing Tweets and use that information to shape your upcoming Tweets. Explore your analytics at analytics.twitter.com or directly by expanding the Tweet.
