John Winston Ono Lennon, MBE (born John Winston Lennon; 9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980) was an English singer and songwriter who rose to worldwide fame as a co-founder of the band the Beatles, the most commercially successful band in the history of popular music. With fellow member Paul McCartney, he formed a celebrated songwriting partnership.
Born and raised in Liverpool, Lennon became involved in the skiffle craze as a teenager; his first band, the Quarrymen, evolved into the Beatles in 1960. When the group disbanded in 1970, Lennon embarked on a solo career that produced the critically acclaimed albums John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine, and iconic songs such as "Give Peace a Chance", "Working Class Hero", and "Imagine". After his marriage to Yoko Ono in 1969, he changed his name to John Ono Lennon. Lennon disengaged himself from the music business in 1975 to raise his infant son Sean, but re-emerged with Ono in 1980 with the new album Double Fantasy. He was murdered three weeks after its release.
Coronation Street (informally known as Corrie) is a British soap opera created by Granada Television and shown on ITV since 9 December 1960. The programme centres on Coronation Street in Weatherfield, a fictional town based on Salford, its terraced houses, café, corner shop, newsagents, textile factory and The Rovers Return pub. The fictional street was built in the early 1900s and named in honour of the coronation of King Edward VII.
The programme was conceived in 1960 by scriptwriter Tony Warren at Granada Television in Manchester. Warren's initial kitchen sink drama proposal was rejected by the station's founder Sidney Bernstein, but he was persuaded by producer Harry Elton to produce the programme for thirteen pilot episodes. Within six months of the show's first broadcast, it had become the most-watched programme on British television, and is now a significant part of British culture. This show has been one of the most financially lucrative programmes on British commercial television, underpinning the success of Granada Television and ITV.

American Top 40 December 13, 1980 with Casey Kasem. This historical show was the only time during Casey's run that a portion of the show was re-produced and re-sent to affiliates because of the tragic death of John Lennon. Stations were told they would receive a few new cuts on a special record to replace one of the Trivia letters, which coincidentally asked about posthumous hits, and Casey's intro to "Just Like Starting Over". They were also instructed on how to edit Casey if they didn't receive the new copies in time. On this show, you can hear both versions, before the changes and after. There were 4 changes, the teaser for the trivia after #39, the trivia itself after #38, the front-sell of "Just Like Starting Over" (#4), and its back-sell as well. Harry Chapin's "Sequel" was o...

AN UNPREPOSSESSING LONER and college dropout, Mark David Chapman had reached the end of the line by the time he went to New York with a pistol in December 1980. He had suffered a nervous breakdown, and had also tried to take his own life three years earlier. In Chapman's distorted view of the world now, someone would have to perish for his own existence to be meaningful. And tragically, that someone was former-Beatle John Lennon. The multitalented singer-songwriter had witnessed a steady increase in his personal and artistic fortunes as the year drew to a close, and was returning home to New York's Dakota Building from the studio on the night of 8th December 1980. He was accompanied by his wife, Yoko Ono, and as the couple approached the entrance of their residence, Chapman appeared and bl...

Unscoped aircheck of easy listening station WPAT (Patterson, NJ) New York.
On December 8, 1980, Dave Sholin and his RKO Radio crew interviewed John Lennon and Yoko Ono at their Dakota Apartment in Manhattan for over three hours. Tragically, it would be Lennon's very last interview—not one of the last—the last. He was shot dead just hours later in the very entryway of the building that Sholin and his crew had just left. Shot dead by a "fan" whom they had seen hanging around the Dakota as they left. Sholin would receive the news after landing in San Francisco. The most incredible day of his life suddenly turned into a nightmare. Now that he had Lennon's last words in his hands, some of which were incredibly prophetic, his day lasted another three without sleep. He immediately was summoned to the station for live on-camera interviews with every news program includi...
I am the same: "I am Aeon"
Before the prison and the iron
The ion and the ink
The hygien and the stink
Time and kink
Of the incense planet
And the clock
At the dock
And the baying of the merchants
3 or 4 for 3 or 4
Of that grain made me the Star
Oh, that we wish had not been known
Or drawn us precious Romans
Face or fake in jade
I am ZION - or Aeon; I forget
Lord of the groves of olives and oranges
And the dead tribes of the central scribal verse:
The tablets of stone and worry
Thou shalt have no no no nothing
But BAALSTORM
Put yourselves on our thrones
Twelve of sixty or the bling
I thought of her just now:
She is there naked like water
I cannot touch the punch
Of her lips I cannot
Dare to otouch lip or skin or fold
I gave gold to buy much less
And gave more
And nothing stayed but the storms
Proud parade around the screen
I will
Myrrh or myth or memorise her
Her forehead in the Roman dream dusk
Room (Rune) for one! Rune for one!
Place so much on her or hers
That sand-scattered Moon
Of the valleys claiming
The Peacock and the Owl behind me
Every grace was fresh
But I felt the lash of Gospel
Or Eagle: I no longer could divide
Ceaser from the Trance or twilight
There is mum and dad
And I am glad
To be back and young
In December 1971
With the storms so far in front of me
And the cell swelling with waves and shards
On each of the brick is the crack
And the crick in the slit
Watch men
Watch birds
Watch TV
And the Satanvans
And the word I heads
From the birds on fire was:
"Aeon-makes nonsense"
Or:"Sing Omega:The own and Crown"
---------------------------------
(Approach and clocks crack
the winds stall
From the holes innocents come:
"And hide away, oh hide away
You young lads, you lasses gay"
Why do I am?
There is incense and my spite
Is ready to create tombs for myself
+++´
Under the great gate
I heard the faces of the coming storm
I heard the night calling to me
Wooooo! All her names
Her names arose in my heart
But were devoid of grace
Her name was fearful and shouted to
In (great) desolations)
--------------------------
BAALSTORM
BAALSTORM (her bone gave grey grace)
(Full of horrors and)
(The birds writhed through the Air)
