Canmore may refer to:
Canmore is a town in Alberta, Canada, located approximately 81 kilometres (50 mi) west from Calgary near the southeast boundary of Banff National Park. It is located in the Bow Valley within Alberta's Rockies. The town shares a border with Kananaskis Country to the west and south and the Municipal District of Bighorn No. 8 to the north and east. With a population of 12,288 in 2011, Canmore is the ninth-largest town in Alberta.
Canmore was officially named in 1884 by Canadian Pacific Railway director Donald A. Smith (later 1st Baron Strathcona and Mount Royal). It was named after Malcolm III of Scotland who was also nicknamed Canmore. Canmore is Gaelic for "Big Head"
In 1886, Queen Victoria granted a coal mining charter to the town, and the No. 1 mine was opened in 1887.
By the 1890s, a North-West Mounted Police barrack had been instated on Main Street, but it was vacated in 1927. The building was restored in 1989 and it is under the care of the Canmore Museum and Geoscience Centre.
Alberta (/ælˈbɜːrtə/) is a western province of Canada. With an estimated population of 4,196,457 as of July 1, 2015, it is Canada's fourth-most populous province and the most populous of Canada's three prairie provinces. Alberta and its neighbour Saskatchewan were districts of the Northwest Territories until they were established as provinces on September 1, 1905. The premier has been Rachel Notley since May 2015.
Alberta is bounded by the provinces of British Columbia to the west and Saskatchewan to the east, the Northwest Territories to the north, and the US state of Montana to the south. Alberta is one of three Canadian provinces and territories to border only a single US state and one of only two landlocked provinces. It has a predominantly Humid continental climate, but seasonal temperature average swings are smaller than to areas further east, with winters being warmed by occasional chinook winds bringing sudden warming which moderates average temperatures.
Alberta's capital Edmonton is near the geographic centre of the province and is the primary supply and service hub for Canada's crude oil, oil sands (Athabasca oil sands) and other northern resource industries.
A provincial park (or territorial park) is a park created under the authority of and is managed by a provincial or territorial government in Canada. Provincial parks are therefore similar to state parks in other countries.
Although provincial parks are not the same as national parks, their structures and purposes are very similar. The provincial and territorial parks systems generally have various park categories. Parks may be ecological reserves without facilities for use by the general public, day use parks or recreational parks that offer many services to visitors, often including bicycle, canoe, or kayak rentals, camping sites, hiking trails and beaches.
In the province of Quebec, the provincial parks are labelled "national parks" and are all IUCN category II protected areas (like at the federal level, and as opposed to many provincial parks), and are managed by Société des établissements de plein air du Québec. Many parks in the other provinces have the IUCN designation.

Considering Banff National Park is one of the world's most visited, it might seem obvious that most tourists would skip right past the former coal-mining town of Canmore, located right outside the park. But this is not the case. Ever since the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, of which Nordic events were held around Canmore, the town has been maintaining a name for itself as an individual destination. Beyond being a place where Olympians still train, Canmore offers travelers opportunities for winter recreation. And although there is plenty to do outside around Canmore year round, winter is my favorite season to visit. Not only does it come with fewer crowds, seeing snow covered Rockies in all their glory is breathtaking. In this video, we will show you some of the top winter experiences yo...
DAY #2 UPDATE - New video of the aftermath here: http://youtu.be/cKXip37Ihes I shot this video about a block away from my house. Heavy rains combined with mountain snow melt to transform the cute little neighborhood creek into the raging Amazon river! A state of emergency has been declared as there are mudslides blocking us in on both sides and massive flooding in the valley. It has washed out highway #1 (transcanada) and many people are being evacuated. The power, internet and water are off and on. Shelley, Lux and I are safe, perched on the hill watching it all go down. Sending prayers to all of those affected. To use this video in a commercial player or in broadcasts, please go to video.storyful.com or email licensing@storyful.com
...And the moon is flooding this town
that regulates my senses
and bleaches the night sky
...and the bells are chiming away
the same time of days that will
regulate my own senses...
catching the thief is...
its so much harder than it looks
its harder than it seems
its so hard
(a hidden image has been calling in the distance)
it points me in directions
that i wont go
i will never make amends
(these accusations reveal stunning answers to our requests)
...and as the charlatans
bring their false pretense
to a new colony
dont trust their words
they're only poison
dont trust their poison
catching the thief is...
well starting out as
hopefully hoping
and saviors saving
a town in distress
we ride
we drive
