Fair Day - Victoria Park - Camperdown

Keep a lookout for the Sister's as you enjoy this much loved community event hosted by Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras, which this year will be returning to the beautiful Victoria Park, Camperdown.

The Sisters will perambulate the park throughout the day distributing much sort after blessings and indulgences.

"Kick off your heels and enjoy a picnic with friends and family, and kick up your heels at the dance tent. See an amazing array of performers on the Main Stage, get amongst it in the Sports Village, sample the food stalls and admire the drag queens in all corners of the park.
There is always something for everyone at Fair Day, even our fur babies are a part of the action. Bring your most fabulous dog down to Fair Day to strut their stuff at our world-famous Doggywood competition.
Whoever you are, Fair Day is the must-do event of the year!” [SGLMG]

Living History Walk
Chapels of Lurv!

In the spirit of celebration of the Mardi Gras Season, the Sisters of the Order of Perpetual Indulgence will again be undertaking a Living History Walk. This year we will be focusing on the public anonymous sex venues, beats or Chapels of Lurv of the Inner East and CBD.

The Sisters have been undertaking these walks annually for over 27 years, with each walk focusing the Gay, Lesbian and Queer lifestyles in separate geographical areas of Sydney. The walk will be led by Activist, Historian and Author Robert French.

These are called Living History Walks, because Robert & the Sisters will be inviting and encouraging people to share their stories of what they did, where they went, who they met [but always in the best of taste, of course!].
Mind you, the Sisters can sometimes show a little lack of taste themselves… !

These Walks are an absolutely vital way to keep out own queer history alive, as queer history is often swept under the mats, and conveniently forgotten.
The Sisters encourage participants to wear sensible shoes, block-out and a hat. The walk will proceed in all weathers, short of Armageddon.

When:Sunday 25th February 2018
Assembly Time:9:45 am for a 10:00 am start
Meeting Point:Corner of Darlinghurst Road & Burton Street, Darlinghurst (near the G&L Haulocaust Memorial)

Zoo Walk - Taronga Zoo

Now in its 25th year, join the Sisters as we visit the world renowned Taronga Park Zoo at Mosman for our Annual Zoo Walk.

The journey starts for most by joining the Sisters at Wharf 4, Circular Quay, to catch the ferry across to the zoo, and then catching the cable-car or bus up to the top gate.

At the Top Gate we are greeted by Zoo Guides and Keepers and, subject to the availability of suitable animals, there is likely to be some Australian fauna that can be gently petted (under supervision of course), or observed in the arms of their keepers.

The Sisters’ Walk around the zoo is accompanied by the knowledgeable Zoo Guides and we will focus on visiting the Australian contingent. Along the way the Sisters will be able to share with the gathered faithful some of the recipes and cooking techniques that were used in the 19th Century … in fact, some of the recipes are still in vogue today.

The Sisters may well also take the opportunity to read selected poems to the animals for their edification.
The escorted walk will conclude with the celebrated Bird Show at 12 noon or an alternative special event such as Dingo feeding time.

At the conclusion of the walk the Sisters thank the volunteers and collect donations for the zoo. At this point there is an opportunity to explore a vocation with the Sisters at lunch!

It is always recommended by the Sisters that you continue your own perambulation of the zoo as there is so much to explore.

Wear sensible shoes, bring water, sunscreen and of course a sense of humour!
