Kanchipuram

Kanchipuram otherwise known as Kanchi (previously romanized as Kāñci-pura, Conjevaram) is a city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, 72 km (45 mi) from Chennai – the capital of Tamil Nadu. The city covers an area of 11.605 km² (4.481 sq mi) and had a population of 164,265 in 2001. It is the administrative headquarters of Kanchipuram District. Kanchipuram is well-connected by road and rail. Chennai International Airport is the nearest domestic and international airport to the city, which is located at Tirusulam in Kanchipuram district.

Located on the banks of the Vegavathy River, Kanchipuram has been ruled by the Pallavas, the Medieval Cholas, the Later Cholas, the Later Pandyas, the Vijayanagar Empire, the Carnatic kingdom, and the British. The city's historical monuments include the Kailasanathar Temple and the Vaikunta Perumal Temple. Historically, Kanchipuram was a centre of education and was known as the ghatikasthanam, or "place of learning". The city was also a religious centre of advanced education for Jainism and Buddhism between the 1st and 5th centuries.

Gopal Yonzon

Gopal Yonzon (Nepali: गोपाल योञ्जन) (August 26, 1943 – May 20, 1997)) was a prominent popular singer and composer of Nepali music.He was also known for his Patriotic Nepali songs. His voice range allowed him to sing songs of every genre of Nepalese music. He belongs to the first generation of Nepali singers who became professional singers. His songs have also been used in several movies and dramas across the country.

Early career

Gopal started his musical career as a flautist. He wrote his first lyrics in 1963 and his first musical composition was recorded in 1964. His musical works encompass Nationalistic/Patriotic, Spiritual, Romantic, Philosophical, Dancing Tunes, Ballads, Musical compositions, Ode to Women and Womanhood, songs for children and youth and thematic songs on environment, sports, scouts, etc. The list is endless. His renderings range from purely classical to folk, modern and music specially created for women and children. In all this variety he maintains his sensitivity and finesse in captivating and maintaining the Nepali touch.

Kanchi Singh (born 27 March 1996) is an Indian television actress. She made her debut as a child artist in TV show Kutumb. She played the lead role of Avni in Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya (TV series).

Subhash Ghai

Subhash Ghai (born 24 January 1945) is an Indian film director, producer and screenwriter, known for his works predominantly in Hindi cinema. His most notable films include Kalicharan (1976), Karz (1980), Hero (1983), Meri Jung (1985), Karma (1986), Ram Lakhan (1989), Saudagar (1991), Khalnayak (1993), Pardes (1997), Taal (1999), and Black & White (2008). In 1982, he started Mukta Arts Private Limited which, in 2000, became a public company, with Subhash Ghai as its executive chairman. In 2006, he received the National Film Award, for producing the social problem film Iqbal.

Early life

Subhash Ghai was born in Nagpur in a Punjabi family. His father was a dentist who practised in Delhi. Subhash did his higher secondary in Delhi and thereafter graduated in Commerce from Rohtak, Haryana. In 1963, he moved to Pune, Maharashtra, to join the Film and Television Institute of India. In 1970, he married a girl from Pune named Rehana alias Mukta. Today, he lives in Mumbai with his wife, Mukta Ghai and daughters, Meghna Ghai Puri and Muskaan Ghai. Meghna Ghai Puri is the President of Whistling Woods International, film and media institution in Mumbai set up by Subhash Ghai in 2006.

Plot: Pranali relates her story to U.S.-based Judy, starting with her birth in an impoverished village near the Karnataka and Maharashtra border where families are forced to eat mice. The Mahant spots her during 1996 and compels her to wed 'Dev' and become a Devdasi. Her mother protests, but her father overturns all objections and presents his daughter to this outlawed practice. Young and unknowing, she is forced to be intimate with the Mahant and then sold to a politician for 20 acres of land. Before she could be molested, she manages to escape, files a police complaint, only to be sent to a Nari Ashram where wealthy males and politicians seek sexual favors. Then during 2003, she is then sold to Akka, a brothel-owner at Laxmi Nagar, Mumbai. It is here she will meet and befriend several other prostitutes including Chanda, Shakila, and Kanchi. Shortly thereafter she becomes pregnant, and despite Akka's advice for an abortion, decides to keep the baby, a girl she subsequently names Roshni. While she continues to make a living in squalid, unhealthy conditions, she faces challenges after she goes to secure school admission for her daughter - a move that will pit her against goons, politicians, and corrupt police.
