The protest will highlight the role of British imperialism in the partition of Palestine, and its collaboration with the crimes and abuses of the Israeli state against the Palestinian people ever since – and call for end to this collusion and for freedom, justice and equality for Palestinians. read full story / add a comment dublin / rights, freedoms and repression / event notice Thursday October 26, 2017 17:46 by IPSC 1 image On Thursday 9th November the Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) is proud to host an important public forum featuring four well-known Irish public figures who will discuss their experiences of four separate fact-finding trips to Israeli-occupied Palestine. Back in the 1980’s, the banks helped thousands of wealthy customers to avoid their taxes in what became known as the DIRT scandal. Brian O'Boyle writes. The DIRT scandal involved bank managers telling staff to pretend their customers were living overseas. AIB were particularly guilty of this offence eventually paying €90 million back to the Revenue Commissioners. Even when they were caught the banks illegally moved tens of millions of pounds to the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. read full story / add a comment international / economics and finance / news report Sunday October 22, 2017 23:49 by Kate Zeller More than 130 faith communities across the United States are praying and acting for hurricane victims during religious services this weekend. read full story / add a comment galway / arts and media / press release Friday October 20, 2017 17:03 by Maureen Gallagher Maureen Gallagher wins Hanna Greally Award. read full story / add a comment dublin / arts and media / event notice Wednesday October 18, 2017 22:57 by PFC 1 image Dublin Workers Film Festival October 20 - 21 New Theatre, Essex Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 1 Programme: Shoes, Fri 20th 4:30pm, October, Fri 20th 6pm, On The Art of War Sat 21st 12pm, Still The Enemy Within Sat 21st 2pm, Une Histoire de Femmes Sat 21st 5pm, Blood Fruit Sat 21st 7pm read full story / add a comment national / environment / press release Tuesday October 17, 2017 17:26 by fie High Court challenge to Dublin Airport extension to conclude. As we send this out, we are sandwiched between the 150th anniversary of Capital and the 100th of what Gramsci called a “Revolution against Capital” in Russia. Our conference includes the May Day bank holiday, celebrated by the traditional labour movement – but it also marks the 50th anniversary of the start of “May 1968” in Paris, while “Ireland’s 1968” is sometimes dated to the violent suppression of a civil rights demonstration in Derry, five months later. read full story / add a comment dublin / anti-war / imperialism / event notice Saturday October 14, 2017 22:16 by Irish Anti War Movement 4 comments (last - monday october 23, 2017 19:42) 2 images US-Russian Tension - Highest since the Cuban Missile Crisis Organised by the IAWM and PANA Speaker: Ray McGovern Former CIA Presidential Briefer / Russian Expert When & Where: Thursday 19th of October @ 7pm - 9pm The Pearse Centre 27 Pearse St Dublin 2 read full story / add a comment national / anti-war / imperialism / press release Saturday October 14, 2017 21:40 by ShannonWatch 1 image Recent discussions about the safety or otherwise of having the US military flying in and out of Shannon Airport gave us reason to recall an incident in March 2008 in which a Murray Air aircraft was involved in an emergency landing at Shannon. Residents of the County Limerick town described their windows rattling and houses shaking as the cargo plane flew low over a housing estate in the town. read full story / add a comment international / economics and finance / press release Friday October 13, 2017 16:36 by Abby Wilhelm The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank begin their annual meetings which run between October 13th and 15th. read full story / add a comment dublin / rights, freedoms and repression / event notice Wednesday October 11, 2017 18:12 by Scientology Not Welcome! 1 image Protest against opening of new Scientology Europe HQ here in Ireland!
