San Francisco (/sæn frənˈsɪskoʊ/), officially the City and County of San Francisco, is the cultural, commercial, and financial center of Northern California and the only consolidated city-county in California. San Francisco encompasses a land area of about 46.9 square miles (121 km2) on the northern end of the San Francisco Peninsula, which makes it the smallest county in the state. It has a density of about 18,187 people per square mile (7,022 people per km2), making it the most densely settled large city (population greater than 200,000) in the state of California and the second-most densely populated major city in the United States after New York City. San Francisco is the fourth-most populous city in California, after Los Angeles, San Diego and San Jose, and the 13th-most populous city in the United States—with a Census-estimated 2014 population of 852,469. The city and its surrounding areas are known as the San Francisco Bay Area, and are a part of the larger OMB designated San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland combined statistical area, the fifth most populous in the nation with an estimated population of 8.6 million.
KPIX-TV, channel 5, is a CBS owned-and-operated television station located in San Francisco, California, USA. The station is owned by the CBS Television Stations subsidiary of CBS Corporation, and is part of a duopoly with CW owned-and-operated station KBCW (channel 44).
The station's studios are located just north of San Francisco's Financial District, and its transmitter is located on Sutro Tower. In addition to KBCW, KPIX shares its studios with its CBS Radio partners: KCBS, KFRC-FM, KITS, KLLC, KMVQ-FM and KZDG, although they use a different address number for Battery Street (865 as opposed to 855).
In the few areas of the western United States where a CBS station is not receivable over-the-air, KPIX is available to Dish Network customers as part of All American Direct's distant network package.
KPIX-TV signed on the air on December 22, 1948 as the first television station in northern California, as well as the 49th in the United States. It was originally owned by Associated Broadcasters, owners of KSFO (560 AM). Initially, channel 5's signal was transmitted from a tower on top of the Mark Hopkins Hotel on Nob Hill. It later moved to a shared transmitter tower with KGO-TV at the Sutro Mansion (which was located midway between Mount Sutro and Twin Peaks), and then to the Sutro Tower in 1973. KPIX's first studio was in the attic of the Mark Hopkins Hotel (just above the "Top of the Mark").
Francisco is the Spanish and Portuguese form of the masculine given name Franciscus (corresponding to English Francis).
In Spanish, people with the name Francisco sometimes are nicknamed "Paco": San Francisco de Asís was known as Pater Comunitatis (The Community father) when he founded the Franciscan order, "Paco" is a short form of "Pater Comunitatis". Also, in Spanish Latin America and in the Philippines, people with the name Francisco are called "Pancho". "Kiko" is also used as a nickname in the Philippines.
In Portuguese, people named Francisco are commonly nicknamed "Chico" (shíco) or "Kiko". This is also a less-common nickname for Francisco in Spanish too.
The San Francisco Bay Area is a populous region surrounding the San Francisco and San Pablo estuaries in Northern California. The region encompasses the major cities and metropolitan areas of San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose, along with smaller urban and rural areas. The Bay Area's nine counties are Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma. Home to approximately 7.44 million people, the nine-county Bay Area contains many cities, towns, airports, and associated regional, state, and national parks, connected by a network of roads, highways, railroads, bridges, tunnels and commuter rail. The combined statistical area of the region is the second-largest in California (after the Greater Los Angeles area), the fifth-largest in the United States, and the 43rd-largest urban area in the world.
The United States Office of Management and Budget (OMB) does not use the nine-county definition of the San Francisco Bay Area. The OMB has designated a more extensive 12-county Combined Statistical Area (CSA) titled the San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland, CA Combined Statistical Area which also includes the three counties of San Joaquin, Santa Cruz, and San Benito that do not border San Francisco Bay, but are economically tied to the nine counties that do.
CBS (an initialism of the network's former name, the Columbia Broadcasting System) is an American commercial broadcast television network that is the flagship properties of CBS Corporation. The company is headquartered at the CBS Building in New York City with major production facilities and operations in New York City (at the CBS Broadcast Center) and Los Angeles (at CBS Television City and the CBS Studio Center).
CBS is sometimes referred to as the "Eye Network", in reference to the company's iconic logo, in use since 1951. It has also been called the "Tiffany Network", alluding to the perceived high quality of CBS programming during the tenure of its founder William S. Paley. It can also refer to some of CBS's first demonstrations of color television, which were held in a former Tiffany & Co. building in New York City in 1950.
The network has its origins in United Independent Broadcasters Inc., a collection of 16 radio stations that was purchased by Paley in 1928 and renamed the Columbia Broadcasting System. Under Paley's guidance, CBS would first become one of the largest radio networks in the United States, and eventually one of the Big Three American broadcast television networks. In 1974, CBS dropped its former full name and became known simply as CBS, Inc. The Westinghouse Electric Corporation acquired the network in 1995, renamed its corporate entity to the current CBS Broadcasting, Inc. in 1997, and eventually adopted the name of the company it had acquired to become CBS Corporation. In 2000, CBS came under the control of Viacom, which was formed as a spin-off of CBS in 1971. In late 2005, Viacom split itself into two separate companies, and re-established CBS Corporation – through the spin-off of its broadcast television, radio and select cable television and non-broadcasting assets – with the CBS television network at its core. CBS Corporation is controlled by Sumner Redstone through National Amusements, which also controls the current Viacom.

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) – A San Francisco landlord thought she would give exchange students from Ireland a break on rent for staying in her home. But a break doesn’t begin to describe what she discovered when they moved out. Friday was supposed to be the day Ritu Vohra got her Sunset District rental home back from the students. Instead, she walked into a nightmare. “Speechless, actually, my mind was speechless,” Vohra told KPIX 5. Vohra said there was broken glass throughout the home, including broken chandeliers. “I mean, how do you get it off the ceiling, unless you swung from it or something?” she said. The property owner said the renters broke through a wall. “The security deposit would cover nothing – not even the windows,” Vohra said. And then, there are the bedrooms. “I mean clean up...

In 2016, CBS San Francisco did a story on the Bios Urn, and interviewed Constance on her experience with using a Bios Urn for her husband Owen. They visited her in her home, and got to see the beautiful Princess Bush she planted in her backyard, just as we did the year prior. She showed them photos of her husband and invited them into the home they inhabited for most of their lives. When we spoke with Constance, she told us how important the experience of planting him was, and how it was significant to her sons as well. Every country and religion and culture has different ways of dealing with death, but what rings true for Constance, is that death is unknown and that if there is anything worth celebrating in this world, it is life, and the life of one you love dearly. Heading out of old San Francisco
Passing by the Golden Gate bridge
Left my woman and child there stranded
Still don't know why I did
It was late in the evening
And something just felt right
You can run around this old town
Keeping it together even if don't feel right
Everytime I go out on the evening
I seem to be losing my head
Heading out of old San Francisco
It's something I just kinda did
Everytime I go gambling my life away
Thing just turn out to be peaches-and-cream
There'll be good times and bad time around here
Heading out of old San Francisco
Heading down Mexico way
Got my jacknknife, my handbag and six string
And I'll soon be on my way
It was late in the evening
And something just felt right
You can run around this old town
Keeping it together even if don't feel right
Everytime I go out on the evening
I seem to be losing my head
