Speech is the vocalized form of human communication. It is based upon the syntactic combination of lexicals and names that are drawn from very large (usually about 1,000 different words) vocabularies. Each spoken word is created out of the phonetic combination of a limited set of vowel and consonant speech sound units. These vocabularies, the syntax which structures them, and their set of speech sound units differ, creating the existence of many thousands of different types of mutually unintelligible human languages. Most human speakers are able to communicate in two or more of them, hence being polyglots. The vocal abilities that enable humans to produce speech also provide humans with the ability to sing.
A gestural form of human communication exists for the deaf in the form of sign language. Speech in some cultures has become the basis of a written language, often one that differs in its vocabulary, syntax and phonetics from its associated spoken one, a situation called diglossia. Speech in addition to its use in communication, it is suggested by some psychologists such as Vygotsky is internally used by mental processes to enhance and organize cognition in the form of an interior monologue.
The National Basketball Association (NBA) presents 12 annual awards to recognize its teams, players, and coaches for their accomplishments. This does not include the NBA championship trophy which is given to the winning team of the NBA Finals.
The NBA's championship trophy made its first appearance after the inaugural NBA Finals in 1947. In 1964, it was named after Walter A. Brown who was instrumental in merging the Basketball Association of America and the National Basketball League into the NBA. The Brown Trophy design remained the same until 1977 when the current trophy design was first introduced although it retained the Walter A. Brown title. In 1984, the trophy was renamed to honor former NBA commissioner Larry O'Brien.
The NBA's first individual awards were the Rookie of the Year and the All-Star Game Most Valuable Player, both of which were introduced in 1953. The only individual award of the postseason is the Bill Russell Finals MVP. The Executive of the Year is the only award not presented by the NBA. It is named annually by Sporting News but is officially recognized by the NBA.

After acquiring the Western International Communications (WIC) group of stations, Global cancelled First National in February 2001 and briefly aired the similar WIC newscast Canada Tonight in its place.

After a season in which he became the first player in 55 years (since Oscar Robertson) to average a triple-double -- not to mention the first player to post 42 triple-doubles in a campaign -- Russell Westbrook was voted 2016-17 NBA MVP. Watch NBA Commissioner Adam Silver present the award to Westbrook, then watch Russ's emotional speech to the New York City crowd at the first-ever NBA Awards Show. Surrounded by his Oklahoma City Thunder teammates, Westbrook thanked his team, his coaches and all those who've affected him...but most of all his family. Having to pause for an emotional break, and as his mother and father wiped away tears, Westbrook showed his appreciation in an emotional tribute to the people whose sacrifice made his MVP moment possible. Not only did the MVP average a triple...

I will speak
With all the force of sunrise
You and me
Beyond the reach of their eyes
Showing you the way their
words have always been
Showing you the way they
speak of harmony, harmony, harmony
I will speak
Without the false in their lies
You and me
We hold a speech in our eyes
I will teach you where their flowers grow
Where their midnight air will blow
Do the foolish care? no-one knows
Through their midnight air we'll go
If you find
The sea was always calling
Think of time
Even the waves pray
Showing you the ways of war and all her tenses
Showing you the way to see through their defences
Their defences
Their defences
If you find
The words were always calling
Think of time
Even the knaves pray
I will teach you where their flowers grow
Where their midnight air will blow
Do the foolish care? No-one knows
