Ashok Selvan

Ashok Selvan is a Tamil film actor. He made his breakthrough playing one of the lead roles in Soodhu Kavvum (2013), before gaining critical acclaim for his performances in C. V. Kumar's productions Pizza 2: The Villa and Thegidi (2014).

Early life

Ashok was born on 8 November 1989 in Erode(chennimalai), Tamil Nadu, India. He moved to Chennai aged three, and completed his schooling at Santhome Higher Secondary School, Chennai before graduating in Visual Communications from Loyola College of Arts and Science, Chennai. During college, Ashok Selvan participated in short films, completing a dozen short films as an actor as well as directing a few including Green, which won Best Film at the 2012 International Tamil Thoth Conference held in Singapore.

Film career

After graduating from college, Ashok sought opportunities in films as an actor and auditioned for roles including in Prakash Raj's production Inidhu Inidhu and Bharat Bala's 19th Step but was rejected. During the period, he applied to work as an assistant director to AR Murugadoss and was given the opportunity to feature in a few scenes as Suriya's friend in the director's venture 7aam Arivu, though his scenes did not make the final version. He was also featured in the title card of Chakri Toleti's Billa 2, with a childhood picture of Ashok Selvan used to represent a younger version of Ajith Kumar's titular character. He then also auditioned unsuccessfully for a role in Pizza, before Nalan Kumarasamy offered him the role of Kesavan in his black comedy film, Soodhu Kavvum (2013) after seeing him in a commercial. Featuring alongside an ensemble cast including Vijay Sethupathi, Bobby Simha and Sanchita Shetty, Soodhu Kavvum became a commercial success, with Ashok being described as "fantastic" in his role of an unemployed graduate.

In its modern era, Tamil films from Chennai have been distributed to various overseas theaters in Singapore, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Malaysia, Japan, Oceania, the Middle East, Western Europe, and North America. The industry also inspired independent filmmaking in Tamil diaspora populations in Malaysia, Singapore, and the Western Hemisphere.

Sean Roldan

Sean Roldan is the stage name for Indian musician Raghavendra, who has worked on Carnatic, independent and film soundtracks for the Tamil film industry. He rose to fame after gaining critical acclaim for his work in Balaji Mohan's Tamil-Malayalam bilingual Vaayai Moodi Pesavum / Samsaaram Aarogyathinu Haanikaram (2014).

Career

Raghavendra was born to the renowned mridangam player Srimushnam V Raja Rao and Padma, the daughter of novelist Sandilyan. He began a career in music composing and working on carnatic tracks, before venturing into independent Tamil music with his band, Sean Roldan & Friends.

Raghavendra was recommended by film producer C V Kumar to Varun Manian, the producer of the bilingual film Vaayai Moodi Pesavum / Samsaaram Aarogyathinu Haanikaram, who was looking for a composer after the director's original choice Anirudh Ravichander had opted out. He subsequently signed the film and chose to continue to credit himself as Sean Roldan for a career in the Tamil film industry. He produced eight tracks for the film, singing two, while including one inspired by the single track "Mayakkura Poo Vaasam" composed for his band. He performs many stage performs in chennai among littleshows award. He was also a part of Mirchi Shiva's 144 directed by debutant Manikandan, produced by C V Kumar of Thirukumaran Entertainment which has Oviya and Shruthi Raamakrishnan playing the female lead with Mundasupatti fame Munishkaanth playing a pivotal role.
