"At the Beginning" is a song by Donna Lewis and Richard Marx, released as the first single from the Anastasia soundtrack. It was released as a CD and cassette single on October 21, 1997 on Atlantic Records.
The song reached No. 45 on the Hot 100 giving Lewis her third Hot 100 hit and Marx his 17th. To date, neither has hit the Hot 100 since "At the Beginning" dropped out. It reached No. 2 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Chart, but did spend a week at No. 1 on Radio & Records' Adult Contemporary Chart before being knocked out by Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On".
The song gave Marx his eighth and final number one hit single as a singer. Lewis would go on to have one more song topping a chart.
The song is a moderate pop ballad
Filmtracks noted that in addition the two pop reprises of songs features in the credits, "The unique entry is the tolerable "At the Beginning," which seems to have been meant to be the centerpiece of the pop songs but was overshadowed in popularity by the cast song adaptations." The site added "For soundtrack collectors, the song "At the Beginning" is interesting in that it included contributions by two composers still on the rise, including piano performances by Anne Dudley and string arrangements by Aaron Zigman, for whom it would be another ten years before his name would be widely known. "

Richard Noel Marx (born September 16, 1963) is an American adult contemporary and pop/rock singer, songwriter, musician and record producer who sold over 30 million records. He had a stream of hit singles in the late 1980s and 1990s, including "Endless Summer Nights," "Right Here Waiting," "Now and Forever," and "Hazard." Although some of his major hit songs were ballads, many of his songs have had a classic rock style, such as "Don't Mean Nothing," "Should've Known Better," "Satisfied," and "Too Late to Say Goodbye."
Marx placed himself in the record books by being the first solo artist to have his first seven singles hit the Top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart (3, 3, 2, 1, 1, 1, 4). His record sales worldwide exceed 30 million. Aside from songs that he has written, composed, and recorded for himself, he has written and/or composed, collaborated on the writing and/or the compositions of, and produced such successful selections for other artists as "This I Promise You" by NSYNC and "Dance With My Father" by Luther Vandross. The latter song won several Grammy Awards. His 14th and latest chart topper, "Long Hot Summer," performed by Keith Urban, gave Marx the distinction of having a song he wrote or co-wrote top the charts in four different decades.
Donna Lewis (born 6 August 1973) is a Welsh singer-songwriter and record producer. She is best known for the 1996 pop hit single "I Love You Always Forever", which reached Number 2 in the US and Australia and the Top 5 in the UK, Canada, Austria and Norway. Lewis also teamed up with Richard Marx in the 1997 adult contemporary hit "At the Beginning." In 1997, Lewis was nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Female.
After releasing her second album Blue Planet, Lewis left Atlantic Records and independently released albums Be Still and In the Pink. Her latest album Brand New Day produced by David Torn and featuring Ethan Iverson, Reid Anderson and Dave King was released on 10 March 2015.
At the age of six, Lewis began playing the piano. Her father, an amateur jazz pianist and guitarist lent encouragement, and while still a teenager, she began composing original songs. Her formal training was at the Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, Wales, where she majored in classical composition for piano and flute. Lewis then went on to teach music for a year in Sussex before moving to Birmingham to sing in a bar band. During that time she set up a home studio and began recording demos. Before long she became a popular live attraction and circa 1993 began sending her demos to record labels.

This video is dedicated to the Romanov family who were the Imperial Family of Russia. Though Tsar Nicholas II made many mistakes causing the great struggle in Russia, it wasn't right to take the lives of innocent children including Anastasia, Olga, Tatiana, Maria and Alexei . If we've learned anything from them, it would be the importance of family. One of the best love story ever captured on animation. Just to let you guys know, Anastasia is a 20th Century Fox film and was not produced by Disney. I focused on the love theme between Anya and Dimitri who never planned on falling in love with each other. Personally I think that they are one of the cutest couples ever!! I got the concept of the intro of this clip from the credits of the film, I hope you guys enjoy it!!

From the Beginning is a song written by Greg Lake and performed by the progressive rock trio Emerson, Lake & Palmer. It was released on their 1972 album Trilogy. It is driven by an acoustic guitar line with layers of electric guitar (both rhythm and lead), electric bass guitar, and sung by Lake, with some backing on drums (played by Carl Palmer with tympani mallets and without cymbals), and with a distinctive closing synthesizer solo from Keith Emerson, accompanied by overdubbed random synthesizer-generated effects. It hit #39 in the US and was their highest charting single. The song was covered by the heavy metal band Dokken and Czech folk rock band Marsyas, albeit under a different name (Studená koupel) with a Czech version of the lyrics.

we were strangers starting out on a journey
never dreaming what we'd have to go through
now here we are, and I'm suddenly standing
at the beginning with you
no one told me I was going to find you
unexpected what you did to my heart
when I lost hope, you were there to remind me
this is the start
and life is a road and I wanna keep going
love is a river I wanna keep flowing
life is a road, now and forever
wonderful journey
I'll be there when the world stops turning
I'll be there when the storm is through
in the end I wanna be standing
at the beginning with you
we were strangers on a crazy adventure
never dreaming how our dreams would come true
now here we stand, unafraid of the future
at the beginning with you
and life a road and I wanna keep going
love is a river I wanna keep flowing
life is a road, now and forever
wonderful journey
I'll be there when the world stops turning
I'll be there when the storm is through
in the end I wanna be standing
at the beginning with you
knew there was somebody somewhere
a new love in the dark
now I know my dream will live on
I've been waiting so long
nothing's gonna tear us apart
and life is a road and I wanna keep going
love is a river I wanna keep flowing
life is a road, now and forever
wondeful journey
I'll be there when the world stops turning
I'll be there when the storm is through
in the end I wanna be standing
at the beginning with you
life is a road and I wanna keep going
love is a river, I wanna keep flowing
starting out on a journey
life is a road and I wanna keep going
love is a river, I wanna keep flowing
at the end I wanna be standing
at the beginning with you
