Now let’s kick off with the list in alphabetical order! 1. Aion The thing that stands out the most in Aion, is the fact that you are some sort of angel. Yes, you have wings and you can fly as soon as you reach level 10. Flying will be limited at first, but by leveling up, questing and earning upgrades, your abilities will grow. 2. ArcheAge ArcheAge is an open ended MMORPG. It takes a sandbox approach and gives players quite a lot of freedom. In this MMO you can form a nation, build castles or your own villa and wage war against other countries. Or you can decide to live as an outlaw and claim everything you can get your hands on. 3. Blade & Soul With Blade & Soul you dive into a world full of martial arts and mythology. Storywise it’s all about becoming a warrior to avenge the death of your fellow students and master. But it’s a very unique game where combat is far more active compared with the more traditional MMOs. 4. Champions Online Champions Online is one of the oldest MMOs in this video. The unique aspect of this game is in the superheroes. Every player can develop their own hero with their own unique powers. Combat in Champions Online is far more direct compared with other games in the genre. 5. Guild Wars 2 The freedom in combat is the biggest unique thing of Guild Wars 2. Combat is quite dynamic and includes the ability to dodge incoming attacks. And you are not stuck with traditional role playing game classes, so you can be a warrior with magic powers who can also finish off an enemy with a bow. You pick your own professions, personality and race, which will determine the start of your own personal story. 6. Lineage II In Lineage 2 there’s a very strong emphasis on Player versus Player combat. There are server wide siege battles where you need to defend or attack a castle. All of the players you killed can even drop loot. But don’t think this MMO lacks story. Lineage 2 launched in North America in 2004 and has seen more story updates then you can imagine. Dark forces that want to destroy the world? Check. 7. Neverwinter Neverwinter is a MMORPG based on the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop role playing games. There’s a very strong sense of storyline in this game and even though you meet people and quest together with others, it doesn’t feel as massive as other games in this video. But as with any MMO there are raids and player versus player combat in this game. 8. Star Trek Online The best thing about Star Trek Online is not that it’s based on the famous series, but that it’s build around both space and ground combat. You are a captain of your own Federation starship, but you get to choose your own destiny. You can become a Klingon warrior or a champion of the Empire, or try to rebuild the legacy of the Romulan. 9. Star Wars: The Old Republic Star Wars: The Old Republic is the one and only MMORPG based on the famous Star Wars universe. You get to play as a Jedi, a Sith, a Bounty Hunter or one of the many other iconic roles. In this MMO you explore a universe that’s set 3000 years before the famous movie trilogy. You get to choose your own path down the Light or the Dark side of the Force. 10. TERA Combat is one of the most interesting aspects of TERA. You need to dodge incoming attacks, move into the right position to aim your attack and combo your attacks to significantly increase your damage.
