Nike Academy is a football academy in England looking to turn young talented football players into professional footballers. One player who went to the Nike Academy and got out with a professional contract is Pontus Almqvist - and today we will share his story with you.
In order to become a Nike Academy player, you need to go through the Nike Most Wanted trials held globally each year. Pontus started his Nike Most Wanted journey with a try-out event in Sweden back in 2015 - and just 3 months later, he was chosen to join the Nike Academy. During his time as a full-time Nike Academy footballer, Pontus gained a lot of interest from Championship clubs in England and was close to signing a deal with Derby County - but ended up signing his first professional contract with IFK Norrköping in Sweden.

Μετά την περιπετειώδη εξόρμηση στο Περού, ο Σάκης Τανιμανίδης και ο Γιώργος Μαυρίδης αλλάζουν ήπειρο και προσγειώνονται στην Τουρκία, με έναν και μόνο σκοπό… να την κάνουν και αυτή άνω κάτω!
Το ταξίδι ξεκινά από την Κωνσταντινούπολη, με μία έκπληξη. Το δίδυμο του “World Party” συνοδεύει καθόλη τη διαδρομή ο πατέρας τού Σάκη, ως ειδήμων του Πόντου, που δεν αργεί να ενσωματωθεί στην ομάδα και αμέσως δέχεται μία πρόκληση. Πατέρας και γιος κοντράρονται σε έναν αγώνα παζαρέματος στο Καπαλί Τσαρσί, μία από τις παλαιότερες σκεπαστές αγορές της Πόλης. Στη συνέχεια, το πρόγραμμα περιλαμβάνει εξαιρετικό φαγητό αλλά και στάση για παραδοσιακό τούρκικο καφέ… Τι δείχνει το φλυτζάνι του Σάκη και του Γιώργου;
Την επόμενη μέρα, οι συνοδοιπόροι αναχωρούν για τον Πόντο. Πρώτος προορισμός η Τραπεζούντα, όπου συναντούν δύο φίλους κι έπειτα περιηγούνται στα κοντινά χωριά, προσπαθώντας να διερευνήσουν τα συναισθήματα των ντόπιων για την Ελλάδα και να καταγράψουν τα ήθη και έθιμά τους. Επισκέπτονται, ακόμα, την Παναγία Σουμελά, το καμάρι του Ποντιακού Ελληνισμού και από εκεί ανηφορίζουν προς την Ίμερα. Το ταξίδι, όμως, παίρνει ασυνήθιστη τροπή και τα γεγονότα που ακολουθούν προκαλούν πρωτόγνωρη συγκίνηση στον Σάκη…

Pontus (region)
Pontus (/ˈpɒntəs/; Greek: Πόντος, "sea") is a historical Greek designation for a region on the southern coast of the Black Sea, located in modern-day eastern Black Sea Region of Turkey. The name was applied to the coastal region and its mountainous hinterland (rising to the Pontic Alps in the east) in antiquity by the Greeks who colonized the area and derived from the Greek name of the Black Sea: Πόντος Εὔξεινος Pontos Euxeinos ("Hospitable Sea"), or simply Pontos. Having originally no specific name, the region east of the river Halys was spoken of as the country Ἐν Πόντῳ En Pontōi, "on the [Euxeinos] Pontos", and hence it acquired the name of Pontus, which is first found in Xenophon's Anabasis. The extent of the region varied through the ages but generally extended from the borders of Colchis (modern Georgia) until well into Paphlagonia in the west, with varying amounts of hinterland. Several states and provinces bearing the name of Pontus or variants thereof were established in the region in the Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine periods, culminating in the late Byzantine Empire of Trebizond. Pontus is sometimes considered as the home of the Amazons, with the name Amazon used not only for a city (Amasya) but for all of Pontus in Greek mythology.

Nike Academy
The Nike Football Academy is an English football academy funded and administered by Nike, Inc.. The academy has a revolving squad of unsigned under-20 players and is run with the intention of helping them find a professional club. The academy is currently based at St George's Park National Football Centre. The squad is made up of players scouted worldwide and drafted to the squad through Nike Most Wanted trials. Over 50 players have gone on to play professional football over the years. The programme is led by Manager Jon Goodman, with former Wolverhampton Wanderers player Matt Murray working as Assistant Manager.
The programme is also known for its collaborations with world class professional players, most notably Sami Khedira, Joe Hart, Rio Ferdinand, Francesco Totti, Mario Gotze and others.
Players such as David Accam, Tom Rogic, Majeed Waris, Petar Golubovic and Sergio Galeano are graduates of the programme.
The Academy regularly play teams like FC Barcelona, AS Roma, Inter Milan, Manchester United and others.

Total war
Total war is warfare that includes any and all civilian-associated resources and infrastructure as legitimate military targets, and typically involves the use of weapons and tactics that result in significant civilian or other non-combatant casualties, whether collateral damage or not. American-English Dictionary defines "total war" as "war that is unrestricted in terms of the weapons used, the territory or combatants involved, or the objectives pursued, especially one in which the laws of war are disregarded." The term can also be applied when the war effort requires significant sacrifices by most of the friendly civilian population.
In the mid-19th century, scholars identified "total war" as a separate class of warfare. In a total war, to an extent inapplicable to less total conflicts, the differentiation between combatants and non-combatants diminishes and even sometimes vanishes entirely as opposing sides can consider nearly every human resource, even that of non-combatants, as nevertheless part of the war effort.

Plot: Every Other Week is a comedy drama about two brothers whose lives become very complicated. 03/06/2015 Μετά την περιπετειώδη εξόρμηση στο Περού, ο Σάκης Τανιμανίδης και ο Γιώργος Μαυρίδης αλλάζουν ήπειρο και προσγειώνονται στην Τουρκία, με έναν και μόνο σκοπό… να την κάνουν και αυτή άνω κάτω! Το ταξίδι ξεκινά από την Κωνσταντινούπολη, με μία έκπληξη. In order to become a Nike Academy player, you need to go through the Nike Most Wanted trials held globally each year. Pontus started his Nike Most Wanted journey with a try-out event in Sweden back in 2015 - and just 3 months later, he was chosen to join the Nike Academy. During his time as a full-time Nike Academy footballer, Pontus gained a lot of interest from Championship clubs in England and was close to signing a deal with Derby County - but ended up signing his first professional contract with IFK Norrköping in Sweden.

Cappadocia is a historical region in Central Anatolia, largely in Nevşehir Province, in Turkey.
In the time of Herodotus, the Cappadocians were reported as occupying the whole region from Mount Taurus to the vicinity of the Euxine (Black Sea). Cappadocia, in this sense, was bounded in the south by the chain of the Taurus Mountains that separate it from Cilicia, to the east by the upper Euphrates and the Armenian Highland, to the north by Pontus, and to the west by Lycaonia and eastern Galatia.
The name was traditionally used in Christian sources throughout history and is still widely used as an international tourism concept to define a region of exceptional natural wonders, in particular characterized by fairy chimneys and a unique historical and cultural heritage.

One of the Cappadocian tribes he mentions is the Moschoi, associated by Flavius Josephus with the biblical figure Meshech, son of Japheth: "and the Mosocheni were founded by Mosoch; now they are Cappadocians". Cappadocia is also mentioned in the biblical account given in the book of Acts 2:9. The Cappadocians were named as one group hearing the Gospel account from Galileans in their own language on the day of Pentecost shortly after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Acts 2:5 seems to suggest that the Cappadocians in this account were "God-fearing Jews". See Acts of the Apostles.
Under the later kings of the Persian Empire, the Cappadocians were divided into two satrapies, or governments, with one comprising the central and inland portion, to which the name of Cappadocia continued to be applied by Greek geographers, while the other was called Pontus. This division had already come about before the time of Xenophon. As after the fall of the Persian government the two provinces continued to be separate, the distinction was perpetuated, and the name Cappadocia came to be restricted to the inland province (sometimes called Great Cappadocia), which alone will be the focus of this article.
The kingdom of Cappadocia was still in existence in the time of Strabo as a nominally independent state. Cilicia was the name given to the district in which Caesarea, the capital of the whole country, was situated. The only two cities of Cappadocia considered by Strabo to deserve that appellation were Caesarea (originally known as Mazaca) and Tyana, not far from the foot of the Taurus.

Lush and green throughout the year, rocky mountains, the cool waters of the coast and plantations of tea, hazelnuts, tobacco and corn, the Black Sea is a unique part of the country. The main industry is farming, thanks mainly to the high rainfall, andin the summer the roadsides are lined with hazelnuts drying in the sun. The culture, cuisine, climate and even dialect is different to the rest of Turkey, and the coastal road stretches from east of Istanbul to the border with Georgia.
The cities in this region are Amasya, Artvin, Bolu, Corum, Duzce, Giresun, Gumushane, Kastamonu, Ordu, Rize, Samsun, Sinop, Tokat, Trabzon Zonguldak, Bartin and Karabuk. Akcakoca is on the far western side of the coast, with endless hazelnutorchards. Inland to the east is Safranbolu, with a wonderful collection of old Ottoman houses, and Devek, famous for its intricately carved walking canes.Further along the coast are Inkum, Amasra and Cakraz, and then Sinop which has been a port for 1000 years and is still one of the biggest in the Black Sea. The town takes its name from the Amazon queen Sinope and local mythology suggests that femalewarriors, called Amazons, lived in this region. It is now an important industrial and commercial centre.Unye and Fatsa, east of Samsun, are popular holiday resorts with natural scenic beauty, beaches, accommodation, campsites and restaurants.
Ordu is a charming city with hazelnut orchards stretching out for miles in all directions and 46km east isGiresun, with its castle perched on a steep rocky slope, crowning the city and overlooking the beach. This is where the Roman general Lucullus saw cherries for the first time, and liked them so much he introduced them into Europe.Trabzon is another important commercial port on the Black Sea, and it connects with ports in other Black Sea countries. Trabzon Castle was founded on an area shaped like a table, and the architecture that developed around the castle reflects Byzantine,Commagene and Ottoman styles. The city's most important building is the Ayasofya Museum, the interior of which is decorated with frescoes, and the exterior with reliefs. From Boztepe Park and the Ataturk Museum there are stunning panoramic views ofthe city.
Inside the Altindere National Park near Macka, the Sumela Monastery is perched on high cliffs overlooking the Altindere valley, and was founded in the 14th century by Alexius III. Inside the monastery is a church, a library, various other rooms and asacred spring.The area around Rize is the wettest in the country with wonderful shades of green, and is the centre of Turkey's tea production with plantations on the high terraces. Hopa is the last Turkish port before reaching the Georgian border, and to the southis Artvin. The city was established on the terraced hills overlooking the Coruh River, which is well known for rafting, and within the province are old Georgian houses and churches.

In the time of Herodotus, the Cappadocians were reported as occupying the whole region from Mount Taurus to the vicinity of the Euxine (Black Sea). Cappadocia, in this sense, was bounded in the south by the chain of the Taurus Mountains that separate it from Cilicia, to the east by the upper Euphrates and the Armenian Highland, to the north by Pontus, and to the west by Lycaonia and eastern Galatia.

Cappadocia is also mentioned in the biblical account given in the book of Acts 2:9. The Cappadocians were named as one group hearing the Gospel account from Galileans in their own language on the day of Pentecost shortly after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Acts 2:5 seems to suggest that the Cappadocians in this account were "God-fearing Jews". See Acts of the Apostles.
Under the later kings of the Persian Empire, the Cappadocians were divided into two satrapies, or governments, with one comprising the central and inland portion, to which the name of Cappadocia continued to be applied by Greek geographers, while the other was called Pontus. This division had already come about before the time of Xenophon. As after the fall of the Persian government the two provinces continued to be separate, the distinction was perpetuated, and the name Cappadocia came to be restricted to the inland province (sometimes called Great Cappadocia), which alone will be the focus of this article.
The kingdom of Cappadocia was still in existence in the time of Strabo as a nominally independent state. Cilicia was the name given to the district in which Caesarea, the capital of the whole country, was situated. The only two cities of Cappadocia considered by Strabo to deserve that appellation were Caesarea (originally known as Mazaca) and Tyana, not far from the foot of the Taurus.

Greece-Athens:Changing of the Guard
The Changing of the Guards in Athens Greece: Every Sunday morning at 11 am, people gather in Syntagma Square to watch the official changing of the guards, the military unit whose members stand proudly in perfect stillness in front of the Hellenic Parliament. There are of course changings every hour in the day, but on Sundays it is the official ceremony with the official costums. The Evzones is a special unit of the Hellenic Army, also known as Tsoliades, who guard the Monument of the Unknown Soldier in front of the Hellenic Parliament and the Presidential Mansion. Through the historical movement of Greece, the Evzones have become symbols of bravery and courage for the Greek people. The Presidential Guard, as the unit is now called, was constituted in 1868 and has taken many names through centuries (Guard of the Flag, Royal Guard, etc). The duties of the soldiers are part of a ceremonial nature. Every soldier guards for about an hour, 3 times in total every 48 hours. Throughout these 60 minutes, they have to stand perfectly still until it is time to switch with another guard. During the changing, they work in pairs so they can perfectly coordinate their moves. The steps that the official ceremony requires at the time of changing are carried out in really slow motion to protect their blood circulation after 60 min of immobility. The soldiers of the Presidential Guard are selected according to their height, excellent physical condition and psychological state as well as character and morality, as they follow a hard training before they become part of this honorary unit. The training lasts for one month and includes exercises to keep the body and mind still. Apart from staying still, the soldiers must also not make any face or eye move and must not show any expression. Their uniform of the Presidential Guard has a historical meaning. It refers to the uniform of the Kleftes and Armatoloi, two groups of Greek warriors during the War of Independence i(1821) against the Ottomans. In fact, the white skirt of the uniform has 400 folds to represent the 400 years of Ottoman occupation over the Greeks. Source:
The uniform consists of: - the phareon which is the Evzone's hat, made from red baize with a black tuft - the white shirt with loose leaves - the phermeli, which is the waistcoat and it is the most difficult part to construct, handmade with many shapes wrought on it - the Greek kilt (or else foustanella), its structure requires 30 meters of white cloth - the tsarouchia, the traditional shoes of Evzones which are red, made of leather, with a small tuft in front. Eeach shoe weighs three kilos - the fringes, blue and white standing for the Greek flag - the garters which are made of silk - the leather belt - the inside garnet -and the gun which is the most difficult piece to carry, not only for its gravity but also for the physical pressure that exerts to the soldier's body. This is the official version of the uniform that the Evzones wear only on Sundays and National holidays. The other days, the white shirt, the phermeli and the Greek kilt are replaced by the doulamas, a special uniform that the soldiers of the Macedonian Struggle (1904-1908) used to wear. This uniform is blue in winter and brown in summer. The Cyclades are an island group in the Aegean Sea, southeast of mainland Greece. They are one of the island groups which constitute the Aegean archipelago. The name refers to the islands around (cycle) the sacred island of Delos.
