Cannes (French: [kan], English /ˈkæn/, in Occitan Canas) is a city located on the French Riviera. It is a commune of France located in the Alpes-Maritimes department, and host city of the annual Cannes Film Festival, Midem, and Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. The city is known for its association with the rich and famous, its luxury hotels and restaurants, and for several conferences. On 3 November 2011 it also played host to the G20 organisation of industrialised nations.
By the 2nd century BC the Ligurian Oxybii established a settlement here known as Aegitna (Αίγιθνα in ancient greek). Historians are unsure what the name means. The area was a fishing village used as a port of call between the Lérins Islands.
In 69 AD it became the scene of violent conflict between the troops of Otho and Vitellius.
In the 10th century the town was known as Canua. The name may derive from "canna," a reed. Canua was probably the site of a small Ligurian port, and later a Roman outpost on Le Suquet hill, suggested by Roman tombs discovered here. Le Suquet housed an 11th-century tower which overlooked swamps where the city now stands. Most of the ancient activity, especially protection, was on the Lérins Islands and the history of Cannes is closely tied to the history of the islands.
Dorothée (born 14 July 1953 in Paris), the stage name of Frédérique Hoschedé, is a French singer and television presenter.
Dorothée (Frédérique Hoschedé) was born on 14 July 1953 in Paris, as a coincidence, she was born on Bastille Day, and because of her grand mother, she believed the fireworks were done in her honour. Her mother was a housewife and her father was an engineer. She has an older brother, Jean-François. She attended a very strict private school in Bourg-la-Reine, close to Paris. During her childhood, she practised dance, piano and horse riding. When she was 11, she won the third prize of a piano competition. Two years later, she visited her penpal Sue in England, she discovered Rock’n’roll, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
She passed her Baccalauréat, then she started a BA in English.
During her last-but-one high-school year, she took part in a theatre competition. She was playing a role in a modern version of Un caprice by Alfred de Musset which she directed. Her troupe won the first prize. One of the jury members was a lady called Jacqueline Joubert who was working for French TV. She particularly noticed her and asked her if she wanted to present a programme. Frédérique accepted. Two years later, in 1973, she was contacted and asked to present a short junior program with a funny muppet called Blablatus. Since the first name Frédérique suits both for males and females, she was given the stage name Dorothée, and her show was called Dorothée et Blablatus. But French TV channels were suddenly restructured and the show was withdrawn.
The Côte d'Azur (French pronunciation: [kot daˈzyʁ]; Occitan: Còsta d'Azur; literally: 'Azure Coast'), often known in English as the French Riviera, is the Mediterranean coastline of the southeast corner of France, also including the sovereign state of Monaco. There is no official boundary, but it is usually considered to extend from the Italian border (Italian Riviera) in the east to Saint-Tropez, Hyères, Toulon, or Cassis in the west.
This coastline was one of the first modern resort areas. It began as a winter health resort for the British upper class at the end of the 18th century. With the arrival of the railway in the mid-19th century, it became the playground and vacation spot of British, Russian, and other aristocrats, such as Queen Victoria and King Edward VII, when he was Prince of Wales. In the summer, it also played home to many members of the Rothschild family. In the first half of the 20th century, it was frequented by artists and writers, including Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Edith Wharton, Somerset Maugham, and Aldous Huxley, as well as wealthy Americans and Europeans. After World War II, it became a popular tourist destination and convention site. Many celebrities, such as Elton John and Brigitte Bardot, have homes in the region. Officially, the Côte d'Azur is home to 163 nationalities with 83,962 foreign residents, although estimates of the number of non-French nationals living in the area are often much higher.
Les Musclés were a French music band in the 1990s. The Musclés were Framboisier (singer), Rémy (bass guitarist), Éric (guitarist), René (accordionist) and Bernard Minet (drummer).
Les Musclés started as Dorothée's orchestra in the Club Dorothée TV show, but also had a career as an independent band. A few of their singles were hits in France, such as La fête au village ("The village party") (2nd in the 1989 charts), Moi j'aime les filles ("I like girls") (12th in the 1989 charts), Merguez party (25th in the 1990 charts) and the Musclada (8th in the 1992 charts). They won five golden records during their career.
The band disbanded in 1997, when Club Dorothée stopped airing.
During the 2007 French presidential election, they came back with a single and a clip "Nicolas et Ségolène", a parody about Nicolas Sarkozy and Ségolène Royal.
Rene Morizur died on 26 August 2009. Claude Chamboisier alias "Framboisier" died on 04 January 2015.

Après "La fête au village" en 1988, les cinq amis parviennent à hisser dans le Top 50 leur hymne à l'été, aux vacances et au barbecue, une chanson intitulée "La merguez partie". http://tourvideos.com/ Cannes is one of the most legendary towns along the French Riviera, famous for the International Film Festival held in May and home to several super-deluxe luxury hotels fronting on a long sandy beach. But surprisingly, the main shopping area and old section are down-to-earth, with normal prices and a friendly atmosphere. Touring strategies can be summed up in a nutshell: walk from the train station to the waterfront, stroll along the shore to the Old Town, eat and shop, then meander back to the station through the pedestrian area. It's an easy four-block walk from the train station to the shore where you can have a peek at the high life exemplified in the extraordinary hotel palaces lining the grand Boulevard de la Croisette. Nobody will stop you from walking...

When you plan a trip to Nice, France, you’re in good company: This city has been a tourist destination since at least the 18th century. The European aristocracy often spent their winters in the pleasant climate, with a sunset walk on the shoreline being the highlight of each day. You can walk in their footsteps—literally—with a stroll down the Promenade des Anglais, which roughly translates to Walkway of the English. On a tour of Nice, you’ll enjoy the mixture of French and Italian culture that permeates the city’s architecture, public art, and yes, the food. Bon appetit! The residents of Nice love the outdoors, and you will, too, as you explore the Place Massena—the city’s main square, where you can enjoy a snack at a café or do some shopping in its many boutiques. Any Nice sightseeing ...
