Tunisia (Arabic: تونس Tūnis; Berber: ⵜⵓⵏⴻⵙ), officially the Tunisian Republic or the Republic of Tunisia (Arabic: الجمهورية التونسية al-Jumhūrīya at-Tūnisīya; Berber: ⵜⴰⴳⴷⵓⴷⴰ ⵏ ⵜⵓⵏⴻⵙ) is the northernmost country in Africa, covering 165,000 square kilometres (64,000 sq mi). Its northernmost point, Ras ben Sakka, is the northernmost point on the African continent. It is bordered by Algeria to the west, Libya to the southeast, and the Mediterranean Sea to the north and east. As of 2013, its population is estimated at just under 10.8 million. Its name is derived from its capital city, Tunis, which is located on the country's northeast coast.
Geographically, Tunisia contains the eastern end of the Atlas Mountains and the northern reaches of the Sahara desert. Much of the rest of the country's land is fertile soil. Its 1,300 kilometres (810 mi) of coastline includes the African conjunction of the western and eastern parts of the Mediterranean Basin and, by means of the Sicilian Strait and Sardinian Channel, features the African mainland's second and third nearest points to Europe after Gibraltar.

Stories of Change celebrates authenticity in visual storytelling. It offers us an intimate perspective on everyday life in five North African countries—Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia—through the eyes of a group of photographers and videographers from the region, all alumni of the Reporting Change training program run by World Press Photo Academy through 2012 and 2014. The visual stories that emerged aim to challenge perceptions of the region bringing insight to issues and to the lives of people that we might not otherwise have had. It is an insider’s view of a part of the world that is rarely out of the news, but is often given one-dimensional, headline-grabbing treatment. The productions not only make the stories more visible, but highlight the work of the storytellers thems...

By Shira Sorko-Ram "You are destined to live in Israel.” This prophecy was given to me numerous times as a young girl in my early 20’s. At that time, there were areas of my life not fully given over to the Lord, and moving to Israel to me sounded like I was being shipped off to a third world country like Afghanistan or Siberia. But on October 15, 1967, exactly 40 years ago, I arrived in Israel for a two-week visit with my parents. Only four months before, the little nation of just over two million Jewish citizens had escaped complete annihilation by the concerted efforts of Syria, Jordan and Egypt, and had achieved a victory that was beyond the imagination of the prime minister, the army chiefs and the whole population of Israel. The euphoria of the nation was indescribable. To the Orth...

http://www.kla.tv/6747 In our broadcast “Streams of refugees into the EU are a US globalizing strategy” the strategy of globalization through four so-called “essential flows”was explained. It stems from the US military geostrategist Thomas P.M. Barnett. I quote Barnett: “…four essential flows are to protect, if globalization … is going to advance.” The current escalating refugee flows into Europe show to be a part of this strategy, i.e. “the flow of people” – which is purposely targeted at Europe and may, according to Barnett, not be hindered by any government or institution. National borders are to be dissolved, races are to be mingled and thereby values and religions are to be abolished and a way be made for a global “New World Order”. We already reported in another broadcasting how th...

Tunisia's economy will regain momentum this year after six years of slow growth. Prime Minister Youssef Chahed has told state television the revival of the vital tourism industry and the return to state phosphate production would help restore growth. Chahed was responding to concerns about the economy after hundreds of youths protested over the past week, demanding development and employment. Tunisia has been praised as an example of democratic transition since the overthrow of former President Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali in 2011. But many people are concerned about the high cost of living, unemployment and the marginalisation of rural communities. Travel video about destination Tunisia. Tunis is a North African city with a long history. After the Hasfides and Osmans, the Spanish Moors came but then had to give way to French colonial rule until present day Independence. In the old town, there are more than 700 historic monuments which include 200 palaces, a colourful variety of buildings and numerous mosques.Among shoreline lava rock is the entrance to the Ghar El-Kebir, a collection of sandstone grottos. During Roman times, thousands of slaves were forced to bring building material for Carthage and El Djem from subterranean shafts. In Sousse, the simple fort of Ribat is probably the oldest Islamic building in North Africa, in which Muslim soldiers lived in monastery-like isolation and in the town’s Archaeological Museum there is a f...

Travel video about destination Tunis in Tunisia. Tunis is the capital of Tunisia and the political, commercial and cultural centre of the country: the Paris of North Africa and a metropolis with a long history. The centre of the city is the Medina, the Arabic old town. Surrounded by the market streets of the souks towers the large mosque of El Zitouna. Apart from the Sidi Oqba of Kairouan, this noble building is the most important religious sanctuary in Tunisia. The central market quarter dates back to the Hafsidic and Early Christian period and the leisurely ambience of the Moorish coffee houses still exists today. The tall, octagonal minaret of the Sidi Youssef Mosque is the earliest Syric building style in Tunisia. Next to the mosque are the securely guarded government buildings that in...
Tunisisa was established by the Phoenicians, but during its eventful history it belonged to the Roman Empire, was under Spanish, Turkish and Arab influences, and later under the French rule. Its architecture, art and culture all reflect this diversity. The ruins of the ancient metropolis of Carthage, the sand beaches of Hammamet, the old town of Tunis, the bazaars of Sousse, the mystical salt lake, the treasures of the Bardo Museum, the cave houses of Matmata, the palm trees of Tozeur, the bay and fish market of Kelibia, the Roman amphitheatre of El Djem, the blue and white houses of Sidi bou Said, the minarets, the oases of Chebika, the monumental buildings of the Ribats, the camels and the modern luxury hotels all are parts of the colorful mosaic, which is called Tunisia. --------------...

Travel video about destination Tunis in Tunisia. Tunis is the capital of Tunisia and this 'Paris' of North Africa is a metropolis with a long history. In the centre of the medina, the domed roof of the souk encircles the Olive-Tree Mosque, the spiritual centre of the old town. The central market district dates back to the Hafsid and Early Christian period. Here, there's something for everyone, many of the goods being skillfully crafted under the watchful eye of prospective purchasers. While strolling through the markets, it's like being part of an Arabian fairy-tale with all the magic of the One Thousand and One Nights. The tall, octagonal minaret of the Sidi Youssef Dey Mosque is an example of Tunisia's earliest Syric building design and opposite is the Dar-el-Bey, former palace of th...

Tunisia is located only a few kilometres away from Sicily, the Roman influence is therefore still very obvious. In 800BC the Punic Tunis was only a small village in a shadow of Carthage. Today, Tunis is a modern city with 1,2 Million inhabitants. Where ever we look the Tunisian flag hoisted everywhere. The five columns of Islam, the state religion of Tunisia, are symbolized by a pentacle . The Muslims believe in God being the only one and Mohammad being his prophet. The teaching of Allah calls the faithful to pray, to fast, to give alms and to make pilgrimage to Mecca.

Starting their Tunisian odyssey in the capital Tunis, Julian and Camilla discover that this North African destination is rather European in flavour. They colour coordinate and walk the picturesque blue and white streets of SidiBouSaid while Julian practices his high school French to the amusement of the locals. Famous for its cinematic scenery, our presenters meet some of Tunisia's film industry greats and the entertainment continues with a psychopathic restaurateur intent on setting Julian up with a local lady. Moving down the coast to Hammamet, a beach resort town where Camilla purchases an unusual coat and Julian gets scrubbed raw in a sauna full of men. The next stop is Kairouan, the holiest city in this Islamic country. Our travellers learn of its history from a guide who is not impre...
Last June the GUCEM (Grenoble university club climbing & mountainering) was on a trip to Tunisia. In ten days we bolted the first sports routes in the country (up to 8a), we did the first ascents of 4 multi-pitches routes ( up to 150m high) and helped the Tunisians to create the first climb...

www.comprimido.pt www.webvideomarketingportugal.com Occupy Wall Street is a people-powered movement that began on September 17, 2011 in Liberty Square in Manhattan’s Financial District, and has spread to over 100 cities in the United States and actions in over 1,500 cities globally. #ows is fighting back against the corrosive power of major banks and multinational corporations over the democratic process, and the role of Wall Street in creating an economic collapse that has caused the greatest recession in generations. The movement is inspired by popular uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia, and aims to expose how the richest 1% of people are writing the rules of an unfair global economy that is foreclosing on our future. The occupations around the world are being organized using a non-binding...
Pathé archive voice over: To few people in a lifetime comes the chance of seeing such a gigantic blaze as the funeral pyre of the Crystal Palace, one of the few remaining links with Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Narrator: In 1936 a fire destroyed the spectacular building known as the Crystal Palace - the same building that 85 years earlier had housed the famous ' Great Exhibition' , one of the most important events of the Victorian era. On 1 May 1851 the Great Exhibition was opened by Queen Victoria. Her husband - Prince Albert - led the development of the Exhibition, which was the first of its kind. It was a bit like a giant museum, full of interesting objects from around the world. The Great Exhibition was held in London' s Hyde Park in a building that soon became known as the Cry...

Tunisian Jihadis: In 2010, Tunisians initiated the Arab Spring. Unfortunately, Islamist preachers were the first profiteers of this new-found freedom, exploiting the chaos to recruit hundreds of disillusioned and naive young men to the Islamic State. In January 2011, driven to despair by high unemployment, food inflation, corruption, a lack of political freedom and poor living conditions, Tunisians ousted President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and introduced democracy to their country. As the celebrations of this remarkable achievement began to quieten down, people got ready to enjoy the benefits of liberty - especially those to do with fairness, human rights and equality. And indeed, many of those benefits did follow; even though many Tunisians continue to feel economically marginalised and the country faces security problems, for the most part the repression that was such of feature of the Ben Ali years has gone. Tunisia is widely regarded as one of the few successes of the Arab Spring. But not all Tunisians would agree. Five years on ...

"Revolution sprung from the womb of the people.... Victory in the face of despots. A road painted with freedom and with change. Tunisia....Two Years Beyond the Arab Spring." This promo was created for a special event / campaign Alhurra did for the 2nd anniversary of the Tunisian Revolution. A revolution that was the spark of multiple revolutions throughout the Middle East and North Africa, better known as the Arab Spring. The turn of the pages or the opening and closing of a window...Change is how you see it from your individual perspective. Transitions show the unfolding of events that lead to final victory for the people. This is the first creative for the 2nd anniversary campaign leading to Egypt, Libya Yemen and so on. mot tunisia
You placed your hand in mine
And I saw you smile
We walked for a while
Until the sun disappeared behind
I love to hear you sing
The way you laugh at me
We sat in that old swing,
And you say you'll never leave
Chorus: Then I woke up, It was just a dream
You are not here, I think I'll go right back to sleep
You looked so real to me
You made me believe
That I was all you'd need
And you set my poor heart free
You told me you were mine
We left the past behind
No more lonely nights and
I was happy for a while
