What is ROBLOX? ROBLOX is an online virtual playground and workshop, where kids of all ages can safely interact, create, have fun, and learn. It’s unique in that practically everything on ROBLOX is designed and constructed by members of the community. ROBLOX is designed for 8 to 18 year olds, but it is open to people of all ages. Each player starts by choosing an avatar and giving it an identity. They can then explore ROBLOX — interacting with others by chatting, playing games, or collaborating on creative projects. Each player is also given their own piece of undeveloped real estate along with a virtual toolbox with which to design and build anything — be it a navigable skyscraper, a working helicopter, a giant pinball machine, a multiplayer “Capture the Flag” game or some other, yet-to-be-dreamed-up creation. There is no cost for this first plot of virtual land. By participating and by building cool stuff, ROBLOX members can earn specialty badges as well as ROBLOX dollars (“ROBUX”). In turn, they can shop the online catalog to purchase avatar clothing and accessories as well as premium building materials, interactive components, and working mechanisms.

Render of part one of the Collapse of PAL (Eulogy, Obsequies and Requiem for the blue plains of phosphor). As performed at TV-TV on the 25th of May 2010, Copenhagen, DK, Copenhagen, DK. The video work is based on analogue signal, compressions, glitches and feedback artifacts in sound and video. For this part of the 30 minutes video, I used a NES, some image bending and a broken photo camera (CCD chip is loose) && for the sound I used a cracklebox, feedback, Eurosignal and a couple of DV-compressed videobends.
In "The Collapse of PAL" (Eulogy, Obsequies and Requiem for the planes of blue phosphor), the Angel of History (as described by Walter Benjamin) reflects on the PAL signal and its termination. This death sentence, although executed in silence, was a brutally violent act that left PAL disregarded and obsolete. While it might be argued that the PAL signal is dead, it still exists as a trace left upon the new, ‘better’ digital technologies. PAL can, even though the technology is terminated, be found here as a historical form that newer technologies build upon, in- herit or have appropriated from. Besides this, the Angel also realizes that the new DVB signal that has been chosen over PAL is different, but at the same time also inherently flawed as PAL.

PAL
Phase Alternating Line (PAL) is a colour encoding system for analogue television used in broadcast television systems in most countries broadcasting at 625-line / 50 field (25 frame) per second (576i). Other common colour encoding systems are NTSC and SECAM.
All the countries using PAL are currently in process of conversion or have already converted to DVB.
This page primarily discusses the PAL colour encoding system. The articles on broadcast television systems and analogue television further describe frame rates, image resolution and audio modulation.
History
In the 1950s, the Western European countries commenced planning to introduce colour television, and were faced with the problem that the NTSC standard demonstrated several weaknesses, including colour tone shifting under poor transmission conditions, which became a major issue considering Europe's geographical and weather-related particularities. To overcome NTSC's shortcomings, alternative standards were devised, resulting in the development of the PAL and SECAM standards. The goal was to provide a colour TV standard for the European picture frequency of 50 fields per second (50 hertz), and finding a way to eliminate the problems with NTSC.

Render of part one of the Collapse of PAL (Eulogy, Obsequies and Requiem for the blue plains of phosphor). As performed at TV-TV on the 25th of May 2010, Copenhagen, DK, Copenhagen, DK. The video work is based on analogue signal, compressions, glitches and feedback artifacts in sound and video. For this part of the 30 minutes video, I used a NES, some image bending and a broken photo camera (CCD chip is loose) && for the sound I used a cracklebox, feedback, Eurosignal and a couple of DV-compressed videobends.
In "The Collapse of PAL" (Eulogy, Obsequies and Requiem for the planes of blue phosphor), the Angel of History (as described by Walter Benjamin) reflects on the PAL signal and its termination. This death sentence, although executed in silence, was a brutally violent act that left PAL disregarded and obsolete. While it might be argued that the PAL signal is dead, it still exists as a trace left upon the new, ‘better’ digital technologies. PAL can, even though the technology is terminated, be found here as a historical form that newer technologies build upon, in- herit or have appropriated from. Besides this, the Angel also realizes that the new DVB signal that has been chosen over PAL is different, but at the same time also inherently flawed as PAL.

Over the course of this evening we are witnessing something deeply personal and yet disturbingly common, because this time the wedding is not about joy and happiness: this time it is the very physical and thought-provoking metaphor of representation, the lack of confidence, human games, gender-questions – in a scenery constructed from the illusion of perfection (a special, huge plexi-pool framed by amazing wedding dresses).
The choreography is a sensitive and abstract reflection on the questions of ego and miscommunication. On this evening we can sense a drifting, irresistible force pushing us onwards, allowing us to discover – both as a witness and a participant – the painful pattern of eternal and yet still finite pattern of human games within the internal relations of a family, a micro-community.

The Hidden Men holds a special mirror in front of us, in which we can see the „Macho”, the „Narcissus” and also „Hercules”, and we can closely examine the archetypes of man. Frenák offers us a radical vision; he probes male sexuality through its different aspects: its origins, as well as its unconscious sources. Its sensuality is without compromise, its rudeness is poetic. The symbols used prompt us to make associations, as the scenery and the source of the movement language is a rope-system on stage and its inspiring verticality.

While there is a complicated, yet fascinating line between graffiti and fine art, the collective has made a seamless transition into the art world in a tasteful way that does not categorize the work as simply "graffiti," yet sustains the collective’s distinct styles and energy within a gallery setting.
The PALINGENESIS exhibition will showcase the collective's debut in the United States as well as its artistic re-birth as evolving fine artists. [Part 1] aka 'Hardcore 2012' takes you on a trip through Paris (France), Malmö (Sweden) and Amsterdam (Holland). Watch it there >> http://vimeo.com/54093433
[Part 2] aka 'Hardcore 2013' continues with some subway and train missions in Athens (Greece) and Milan (Italy). The journey ends up in the streets of Paris once again, for a typical day with the PAL crew who take us on a visit of Paris' Chinatown… after the classic café-croissant.

What is ROBLOX? ROBLOX is an online virtual playground and workshop, where kids of all ages can safely interact, create, have fun, and learn. It’s unique in that practically everything on ROBLOX is designed and constructed by members of the community. ROBLOX is designed for 8 to 18 year olds, but it is open to people of all ages. Each player starts by choosing an avatar and giving it an identity. They can then explore ROBLOX — interacting with others by chatting, playing games, or collaborating on creative projects. Each player is also given their own piece of undeveloped real estate along with a virtual toolbox with which to design and build anything — be it a navigable skyscraper, a working helicopter, a giant pinball machine, a multiplayer “Capture the Flag” game or some other, yet-to-be-dreamed-up creation. There is no cost for this first plot of virtual land. By participating and by building cool stuff, ROBLOX members can earn specialty badges as well as ROBLOX dollars (“ROBUX”). In turn, they can shop the online catalog to purchase avatar clothing and accessories as well as premium building materials, interactive components, and working mechanisms.

Render of part one of the Collapse of PAL (Eulogy, Obsequies and Requiem for the blue plains of phosphor). As performed at TV-TV on the 25th of May 2010, Copenhagen, DK, Copenhagen, DK. The video work is based on analogue signal, compressions, glitches and feedback artifacts in sound and video. For this part of the 30 minutes video, I used a NES, some image bending and a broken photo camera (CCD chip is loose) && for the sound I used a cracklebox, feedback, Eurosignal and a couple of DV-compressed videobends.
In "The Collapse of PAL" (Eulogy, Obsequies and Requiem for the planes of blue phosphor), the Angel of History (as described by Walter Benjamin) reflects on the PAL signal and its termination. This death sentence, although executed in silence, was a brutally violent act that left PAL disregarded and obsolete. While it might be argued that the PAL signal is dead, it still exists as a trace left upon the new, ‘better’ digital technologies. PAL can, even though the technology is terminated, be found here as a historical form that newer technologies build upon, in- herit or have appropriated from. Besides this, the Angel also realizes that the new DVB signal that has been chosen over PAL is different, but at the same time also inherently flawed as PAL.

Over the course of this evening we are witnessing something deeply personal and yet disturbingly common, because this time the wedding is not about joy and happiness: this time it is the very physical and thought-provoking metaphor of representation, the lack of confidence, human games, gender-questions – in a scenery constructed from the illusion of perfection (a special, huge plexi-pool framed by amazing wedding dresses).
The choreography is a sensitive and abstract reflection on the questions of ego and miscommunication. On this evening we can sense a drifting, irresistible force pushing us onwards, allowing us to discover – both as a witness and a participant – the painful pattern of eternal and yet still finite pattern of human games within the internal relations of a family, a micro-community.

The Hidden Men holds a special mirror in front of us, in which we can see the „Macho”, the „Narcissus” and also „Hercules”, and we can closely examine the archetypes of man. Frenák offers us a radical vision; he probes male sexuality through its different aspects: its origins, as well as its unconscious sources. Its sensuality is without compromise, its rudeness is poetic. The symbols used prompt us to make associations, as the scenery and the source of the movement language is a rope-system on stage and its inspiring verticality.
