Ars longa, vita brevis is a Latin translation of an aphorism coming originally from Greek. The Latin quote is often rendered in English as Art is long, life is short.
The aphorism quotes the first two lines of the Aphorismi by the Ancient Greek physician Hippocrates. The familiar Latin translation Ars longa, vita brevis reverses the order of the original lines.
The original text, a standard Latin translation, and an English translation from the Greek follow.
The most common and significant caveat made regarding the saying is that "art" (Latin: ars, translating Ancient Greek: τέχνη (techne)) originally meant "technique, craft" (as in The Art of War), not "fine art". Hippocrates was a physician who made this the opening statement in a medical text. The lines which follow: "The physician must not only be prepared to do what is right himself, but also to make the patient, the attendants, and externals cooperate." Thus in plainer language "it takes a long time to acquire and perfect one's expertise (in, say, medicine) and one has but a short time in which to do it". It can be interpreted as "art lasts forever, but artists die and are forgotten" (in this use sometimes rendered in the Greek order as "Life is short, Art eternal"), but most commonly it refers to how time limits our accomplishments in life.
A greatest hits album, sometimes called a "best of" album or a catalog album, is a compilation of songs by a particular artist or band. Most often the track list contains previously released recordings with a high degree of notability. However, to increase the appeal, especially to people who already own the original release, it is common to include remixes and/or alternate takes of popular songs; even new material (previously unreleased). At times a greatest hits compilation is the original release for songs that have themselves been released as a single and charted successfully.
Madonna's The Immaculate Collection is the best selling greatest hits compilation by a solo artist; all of the songs on it are presented in different versions than the original hit versions. The Eagles' Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) is the best selling greatest hits compilation by a group and also one of the ten best selling albums in history. Greatest hits albums are typically produced after an artist has had enough successful songs to fill out an album release. Some artists, such as Mariah Carey, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Kenny Rogers, Aerosmith, Kiss, U2, Dolly Parton, Journey, Los Tigres del Norte, Queen, Kylie Minogue and Billy Joel, have released multiple greatest hits albums through their long careers. Some greatest hits albums are released only at the end of the artist or group's career. For example, My Chemical Romance released a greatest hits album after they disbanded. Other artists, like Eminem have released hits albums in the center of their success. He released Curtain Call: The Hits in 2005 and then Shady XV as a compilation album in 2014.

A documentary style project about a mother, father and daughter growing up in the back country of British Columbia. 34 years later the mother/daughter team are still working harder than ever operating a world class Steelhead Lodge in Northern B.C. Here is part 1 from Catch Magazine’s November issue. Camera work and editing by Todd Moen.
"Fall Run" is the ultimate Pacific Northwest steelhead adventure. This is the true story every angler dreams about retelling around the campfire forever. Hooking and landing a steelhead on a fly is not easy. It is arguably the most difficult type of fly fishing in the world. Add the challenges of Mother Nature's moods, an unpredictable wild creature and one single, split-moment chance to capture it all on film........and you've got a recipe for a movie house flop. But against all possible odds, luck lands on the right side for the filming of this high-action angling adventure. Six years after filming Catch Magazine's premier issue T-Motion production, anglers Jeff Hickman and Jakob Lund meet up for another steelhead quest on camera with Todd Moen. Moen captures a film of fellowship ...
Part #2 of the epic trip to Northern British Columbia. It was a glimpse into a life most people dream of; living within a short walk to stellar waters, seeing mountains in every direction, and sharing habitat with North America’s kings of the food chain – the grizzly bears and wolves who frequently visit camp. A great story about two amazing women.

This short film contains no conventional story or plot. It portrays the average day in the life of an apartment, and indirectly a day in mine. Shot over approximately a month's time in and around my home. This is an attempt to emote, through colour and editing, the mood I was in and the feelings I felt during that time. In some ways it was quite therapeutic being able to express (through some other medium) things I haven't been able to say out loud. Hopefully it'll give some enjoyment to whomever happens to watch it. If not, blame me for my pretensions. The camera used was a Canon EOS 7D with a EF 50mm f/1.4 USM lens. www.yoghurtspasm.com fottow@gmail.com

Cuenta el abuelo que
De niño el jugó
Entre árboles y risas
Y alcatraces de color
Recuerda un rÃo
Transparente si olores
Donde abundaban peces
No sufrÃan ni un dolor
Cuenta mà abuelo
De un cielo muy azul
En donde voló papalotes
Ue él Mismo construyó
El tiempo pasó y
Nuestro viejo ya murió
Y hoy me pregunté
Después de tanta destrucción
¿Dónde diablos jugarán los pobres niños?
¡Ay ay ay!
¿En dónde jugarán?
Se esta quemando el mundo
