1950 (MCML) was a common year starting on Sunday (dominical letter A) of the Gregorian calendar, the 1950th year of the Common Era (CE) and Anno Domini (AD) designations, the 950th year of the 2nd millennium, the 50th year of the 20th century, and the 1st year of the 1950s decade. It is also the index year, or year 0, that scientists use for Before Present figures.
Vasanth Kumar Shivashankar Padukone (9 July 1925 – 10 October 1964), better known as Guru Dutt, was an Indian film director, producer and actor. He made 1950s and 1960s classics such as Pyaasa, Kaagaz Ke Phool , Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam and Chaudhvin Ka Chand. In particular, Pyaasa and Kaagaz Ke Phool are now included among the greatest films of all time, both by Time magazine's "All-TIME" 100 best movies and by the Sight & Sound critics' and directors' poll, where Dutt himself is included among the greatest film directors of all time. He is sometimes referred to as "India's Orson Welles". In 2010, he was included among CNN's "top 25 Asian actors of all time".
He is most famous for making lyrical and artistic films within the context of popular Hindi cinema of the 1950s, and expanding its commercial conventions, starting with his 1957 film, Pyaasa. Several of his later works have a cult following. His movies go full house when re-released; especially in Germany, France and Japan.

Oldfield was brought up and educated in the care of children's charity, Barnardo's. He was educated at Ripon Grammar School, Sheffield College, and Ravensbourne College. He graduated from St. Martin's School of Art in London in 1973 to critical acclaim. That year he staged his first one-man show for Henri Bendel, later returning to London to show his first collection.
In 1975 the Bruce Oldfield label was born with the launch of ready-to-wear collections for European and American stores. He began making couture clothes in 1978 for individual clients and from 1980 for Diana, Princess of Wales. In 1984 he opened his first shop selling ready-to-wear and couture to an international clientele. During the 1980s, he also designed shoes for couture house Rayne.
Elvis Aaron Presley (January 8, 1935 – August 16, 1977) was an American singer and actor. Regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, he is often referred to as "the King of Rock and Roll", or simply, "the King".
Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, as a twinless twin, and when he was 13 years old, he and his family relocated to Memphis, Tennessee. His music career began there in 1954, when he recorded a song with producer Sam Phillips at Sun Records. Accompanied by guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black, Presley was an early popularizer of rockabilly, an uptempo, backbeat-driven fusion of country music and rhythm and blues. RCA Victor acquired his contract in a deal arranged by Colonel Tom Parker, who managed the singer for more than two decades. Presley's first RCA single, "Heartbreak Hotel", was released in January 1956 and became a number-one hit in the United States. He was regarded as the leading figure of rock and roll after a series of successful network television appearances and chart-topping records. His energized interpretations of songs and sexually provocative performance style, combined with a singularly potent mix of influences across color lines that coincided with the dawn of the Civil Rights Movement, made him enormously popular—and controversial.
Gordon Hill Jenkins (May 12, 1910 – May 1, 1984) was an American arranger, composer and pianist who was an influential figure in popular music in the 1940s and 1950s, renowned for his lush string arrangements. Jenkins worked with the Andrews Sisters, Johnny Cash, The Weavers, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Judy Garland, Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday, Harry Nilsson, and Ella Fitzgerald, among others.
Gordon Jenkins was born in Webster Groves, Missouri. He began his career doing arrangements for a St. Louis radio station. He was then hired by Isham Jones, the director of a dance band known for its ensemble playing, which gave Jenkins the opportunity to develop his skills in melodic scoring. He also conducted The Show Is On on Broadway.
After the Jones band broke up in 1936, Jenkins worked as a freelance arranger and songwriter, contributing to sessions by Isham Jones, Paul Whiteman, Benny Goodman, Andre Kostelanetz, Lennie Hayton, and others. In 1938, Jenkins moved to Hollywood and worked for Paramount Pictures and NBC, and then became Dick Haymes' arranger for four years. In 1944, Jenkins had a hit song with "San Fernando Valley". In the 1940s, he was music director for the radio version of the program Mayor of the Town, and his orchestra provided the music for Ransom Sherman's program on CBS.

The 1950's where an important decade for music. This was when music transferred from jazz and blues to rock n' roll. This was because of artists such as Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and Chuck Berry. For the second half of the twentieth century, I have decided to make each decade video have 30 songs instead of 20. This is because people know much more songs in the second half then the first. Song List: 30. Maybellene - Chuck Berry (1955) 29. Mona Lisa - Nat "King" Cole (1950) 28. Your Cheatin' Heart - Hank Williams (1953) 27. You Send Me - Sam Cooke (1957) 26. Coin collecting in general is not an inexpensive hobby. However, if you're able to cherrypick some key dates or decades of coinage that are a little tougher to find in a nice mid graded mint state or with a full strike, it could be a great way of making extra money or supplementing your collection into something bigger. Check out the recent sale of a pleasing 1950's nickel that has some serious legs!

This short piece contains street photographs taken by Vivian Maier, an American of French and Austro-Hungarian extraction, amateur photo-bug and nanny. The photographs were discovered in a thrift auction house on Chicago’s Northwest Side in 2007. She actually appears in one sequence, taking a self portrait against a mirror or window. Many of the scenes I show revolve around the Statue of Liberty, with unusual angles. There are also famous celebrities faces caught as they were doing "their thing". [Lyrics By: Ben Burnley and Plan 9]
[This is a rare demo from Plan 9 (before Breaking
Benjamin) that Ben and them performed. I did not
comprehend these lyrics, some other BenHead did.]
And you might think, the end is on the brink
And now I believe in something I believe or not
And all I do, is sit and pity you
When I should be laughing at the things I haven't
Now I don't know how...
I'm a chameleon now...
You hate me? Take me
I all I wanted was to come back down...
You need me? Keep me
Leave me haunted by what I've burn down
And all this time, I leave you here behind
And now I believe in something I believe or not
And all I do, is sit and pity you
When I should be laughing at the things I haven't
Now I don't know how...
I'm a chameleon now...
You hate me? Take me
I all I wanted was to come back down...
You need me? Keep me
Leave me haunted by what I've burn down
You hate me? Take me
I all I wanted was to come back down...
You need me? Keep me
Leave me haunted by what I've burn down
What more could I...do?
What more could I do?
What more could I do?
What more could I do?
What more could I do?
What more could I do?
What more could I do
