Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that Proton was no longer a national carmaker after China's Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd's acquired 49.9 percent of the company.
He said with the sale Malaysia has lost one of the country's icon and despite Proton's faults, no other developing countries have been able to come out with their own cars.

Tegas Johari, walaupun ramai pihak mengadu menyayangi Proton namun mereka sendiri tidak pernah membeli kereta proton.
Berkata kepada Utusan Malaysia, Jika benar sayang Proton, mereka perlu membeli kereta tersebut.

Azmin berkata ini kerana kegagalan Putrajaya untuk memberikan dokongan kepada industri automatif negara sehingga menyebabkan orang asing menguasai Proton.
Jelasnya, ini merupakan bukti Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Razak gagal menguruskan satu industri berteknologi tinggi di negara ini.
"Seperti yang disebut Tun Dr Mahathir, ini satu perkara yang amat menyedihkan sebagai sebuah kereta nasional sekarang ini terlepas ke tangan orang asing kerana kegagalan Putrajaya untuk memberikan dokongan kepada industri automatif negara dan ini menyebabkan orang asing sekarang menguasai Proton.
"Ini satu bukti bahawa Perdana Menteri gagal dalam menguruskan satu industri berteknologi tinggi yang sepatutnya menjadi tumpuan untuk menjana satu pertumbuhan ekonomi yang sustainable bagi masa akan datang," katanya.
Beliau berkata demikian dalam satu majlis hari ini.
Sebelum ini, Mahathir membidas perjanjian itu, dengan mendakwa bahawa kepentingan negara sedang dijual kepada orang asing.
Perjanjian dengan DRB-Hicom akan menyaksikan Geely memperoleh kepentingan 51 peratus dalam Lotus.

Syarikat DRB-Hicom akan menjual 49.9 peratus ekuiti dalam Proton Holdings kepada syarikat pembuat kereta China, Kumpulan Geely Holding.
Menurut DRB-Hicom, kedua-dua pihak telah mencapai persetujuan dan akan memeterai Perjanjian Definitif pada Julai 2017.
Syarikat bermasalah itu juga dilaporkan akan menjual semua kepentingannya dalam syarikat pembuat kereta British, Lotus kepada Geely.
"Perjanjian itu juga akan menyaksikan Proton menjual keseluruhan ekuitinya dalam Lotus kepada Geely Holding, yang akan melihat kumpulan itu tidak lagi akan berkecimpung dalam segmen kereta sukan," kata DRB-Hicom yang dipetik oleh portal The Star.
Dengan keputusan itu, Geely yang menguasai Geely Automobile Hong Kong dan Kumpulan Kereta Volvo Sweden menjadi pemilik kereta nasional negara yang diasaskan pada tahun 1983 oleh bekas Perdana Menteri Malaysia Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Geely Holding, yang juga memiliki The London Taxi Company, adalah antara syarikat pembuat kenderaan penumpang terkemuka di China.
Ia mempunyai kemudahan di sebahagian besar dunia, termasuk 16 kilang pembuatan, tujuh studio reka bentuk dan lima pusat penyelidikan dan pembangunan.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the of the GHOSTBUSTERS we attempt to recreate the proton streams from the film.
I splurged and bought a rather expensive Neutrino Wand from Amazon, but everything else we went super cheap.
We used an assortment of flash lights and used light painting techniques.
Most of the images were captured with a 4 second exposure at F22.

Proton
The proton is a subatomic particle, symbol p or p+, with a positive electric charge of +1e elementary charge and mass slightly less than that of a neutron. Protons and neutrons, each with mass approximately one atomic mass unit, are collectively referred to as "nucleons". One or more protons are present in the nucleus of every atom. The number of protons in the nucleus is the defining property of an element, and is referred to as the atomic number. Since each element has a unique number of protons, each element has its own unique atomic number. The word proton is Greek for "first", and this name was given to the hydrogen nucleus by Ernest Rutherford in 1920. In previous years Rutherford had discovered that the hydrogen nucleus (known to be the lightest nucleus) could be extracted from the nuclei of nitrogen by collision. The proton was therefore a candidate to be a fundamental particle and a building block of nitrogen and all other heavier atomic nuclei.
In the modern Standard Model of particle physics, the proton is a hadron, and like the neutron, the other nucleon (particle present in atomic nuclei), is composed of three quarks. Although the proton was originally considered a fundamental or elementary particle, it is now known to be composed of three valence quarks: two up quarks and one down quark. The rest masses of the quarks contribute only about 1% of the proton's mass, however. The remainder of the proton mass is due to the kinetic energy of the quarks and to the energy of the gluon fields that bind the quarks together. Because the proton is not a fundamental particle, it possesses a physical size; the radius of the proton is about 0.84–0.87 fm.

Mahathir Mohamad
Tun Dato' Seri Mahathir bin Mohamad (Jawi:محضير بن محمد; IPA: [maˈhaðɪr bɪn moˈhamad]; born 10 July 1925) is a Malaysian politician who was the fourth Prime Minister of Malaysia. He held the post for 22 years from 1981 to 2003, making him Malaysia's longest-serving Prime Minister. His political career spanned almost 40 years.
Born and raised in Alor Setar, Kedah, Mahathir excelled at school and became a medical doctor. He became active in the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), Malaysia's largest political party, before entering Parliament in 1964. He served one term before losing his seat, subsequently falling out with the then Prime Minister,Tunku Abdul Rahman and being expelled from UMNO. When Abdul Rahman resigned, Mahathir re-entered UMNO and Parliament, and was promoted to the Cabinet. By 1976 he had risen to Deputy Prime Minister, and in 1981 was sworn in as Prime Minister after the resignation of his predecessor, Hussein Onn.

GHOSTBUSTERS proton streams
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the of the GHOSTBUSTERS we attempt to recreate the proton streams from the film. I splurged and bought a rather expensive Neutrino Wand from Amazon, but everything else we went super cheap. We used an assortment of flash lights and used light painting techniques. Most of the images were captured with a 4 second exposure at F22. Model Description “The Fred Rubble is actually quite a bit different than my other boards. It has a lower entry rocker and a wider outline. It has more volume than a Proton, but it isn’t really short and chunky like a Dumpster Diver. It’s just a fun board for waves from waist high to a little over head. "Seperti yang disebut Tun Dr Mahathir, ini satu perkara yang amat menyedihkan sebagai sebuah kereta nasional sekarang ini terlepas ke tangan orang asing kerana kegagalan Putrajaya untuk memberikan dokongan kepada industri automatif negara dan ini menyebabkan orang asing sekarang menguasai Proton.
"Ini satu bukti bahawa Perdana Menteri gagal dalam menguruskan satu industri berteknologi tinggi yang sepatutnya menjadi tumpuan untuk menjana satu pertumbuhan ekonomi yang sustainable bagi masa akan datang," katanya.

Syarikat DRB-Hicom akan menjual 49.9 peratus ekuiti dalam Proton Holdings kepada syarikat pembuat kereta China, Kumpulan Geely Holding.
Menurut DRB-Hicom, kedua-dua pihak telah mencapai persetujuan dan akan memeterai Perjanjian Definitif pada Julai 2017.
Syarikat bermasalah itu juga dilaporkan akan menjual semua kepentingannya dalam syarikat pembuat kereta British, Lotus kepada Geely.
"Perjanjian itu juga akan menyaksikan Proton menjual keseluruhan ekuitinya dalam Lotus kepada Geely Holding, yang akan melihat kumpulan itu tidak lagi akan berkecimpung dalam segmen kereta sukan," kata DRB-Hicom yang dipetik oleh portal The Star.

“The Fred Rubble is actually quite a bit different than my other boards. It has a lower entry rocker and a wider outline. It has more volume than a Proton, but it isn’t really short and chunky like a Dumpster Diver. It’s just a fun board for waves from waist high to a little over head. I’ve been riding mine two inches shorter than my standard shortboard and 1/4 inch wider. For example, my standard shortboard is a 5’11″ x 18 3/8″ x 2 3/16″ Proton and I ride my Fred Rubble as a 5’9″ x 18 5/8″ x 2 3/16″.
So I’d recommend for you a 5’11″ if your normal board is a 6’1″. – Connor Coffin
Features single to double concave and comes standard in a squash tail.
Experience
Ridden by Conner in all conditions, from low tide Rincon and dumpy HB, to the fat faced mushy stuff. The wide point is forward to skate over flat sections but with more tail kick than a Flyer so it stays tight when turning hard in the pocket.
Dane claimed best turn of his life on this board in the Rip Curl Search Puerto Rico contest in 2010.

Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that Proton was no longer a national carmaker after China's Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd's acquired 49.9 percent of the company. He said with the sale Malaysia has lost one of the country's icon and despite Proton's faults, no other developing countries have been able to come out with their own cars.

Syarikat DRB-Hicom akan menjual 49.9 peratus ekuiti dalam Proton Holdings kepada syarikat pembuat kereta China, Kumpulan Geely Holding. Menurut DRB-Hicom, kedua-dua pihak telah mencapai persetujuan dan akan memeterai Perjanjian Definitif pada Julai 2017. Syarikat bermasalah itu juga dilaporkan akan menjual semua kepentingannya dalam syarikat pembuat kereta British, Lotus kepada Geely. GHOSTBUSTERS proton streams
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the of the GHOSTBUSTERS we attempt to recreate the proton streams from the film. I splurged and bought a rather expensive Neutrino Wand from Amazon, but everything else we went super cheap. We used an assortment of flash lights and used light painting techniques. Most of the images were captured with a 4 second exposure at F22. "Seperti yang disebut Tun Dr Mahathir, ini satu perkara yang amat menyedihkan sebagai sebuah kereta nasional sekarang ini terlepas ke tangan orang asing kerana kegagalan Putrajaya untuk memberikan dokongan kepada industri automatif negara dan ini menyebabkan orang asing sekarang menguasai Proton.
"Ini satu bukti bahawa Perdana Menteri gagal dalam menguruskan satu industri berteknologi tinggi yang sepatutnya menjadi tumpuan untuk menjana satu pertumbuhan ekonomi yang sustainable bagi masa akan datang," katanya.
Beliau berkata demikian dalam satu majlis hari ini.
Sebelum ini, Mahathir membidas perjanjian itu, dengan mendakwa bahawa kepentingan negara sedang dijual kepada orang asing.
Perjanjian dengan DRB-Hicom akan menyaksikan Geely memperoleh kepentingan 51 peratus dalam Lotus.

Syarikat DRB-Hicom akan menjual 49.9 peratus ekuiti dalam Proton Holdings kepada syarikat pembuat kereta China, Kumpulan Geely Holding.
Menurut DRB-Hicom, kedua-dua pihak telah mencapai persetujuan dan akan memeterai Perjanjian Definitif pada Julai 2017.
Syarikat bermasalah itu juga dilaporkan akan menjual semua kepentingannya dalam syarikat pembuat kereta British, Lotus kepada Geely.
"Perjanjian itu juga akan menyaksikan Proton menjual keseluruhan ekuitinya dalam Lotus kepada Geely Holding, yang akan melihat kumpulan itu tidak lagi akan berkecimpung dalam segmen kereta sukan," kata DRB-Hicom yang dipetik oleh portal The Star.
Dengan keputusan itu, Geely yang menguasai Geely Automobile Hong Kong dan Kumpulan Kereta Volvo Sweden menjadi pemilik kereta nasional negara yang diasaskan pada tahun 1983 oleh bekas Perdana Menteri Malaysia Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Geely Holding, yang juga memiliki The London Taxi Company, adalah antara syarikat pembuat kenderaan penumpang terkemuka di China.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the of the GHOSTBUSTERS we attempt to recreate the proton streams from the film.
I splurged and bought a rather expensive Neutrino Wand from Amazon, but everything else we went super cheap.
We used an assortment of flash lights and used light painting techniques.
Most of the images were captured with a 4 second exposure at F22.

“The Fred Rubble is actually quite a bit different than my other boards. It has a lower entry rocker and a wider outline. It has more volume than a Proton, but it isn’t really short and chunky like a Dumpster Diver. It’s just a fun board for waves from waist high to a little over head. I’ve been riding mine two inches shorter than my standard shortboard and 1/4 inch wider. For example, my standard shortboard is a 5’11″ x 18 3/8″ x 2 3/16″ Proton and I ride my Fred Rubble as a 5’9″ x 18 5/8″ x 2 3/16″.
So I’d recommend for you a 5’11″ if your normal board is a 6’1″. – Connor Coffin
Features single to double concave and comes standard in a squash tail.
Experience
Ridden by Conner in all conditions, from low tide Rincon and dumpy HB, to the fat faced mushy stuff. The wide point is forward to skate over flat sections but with more tail kick than a Flyer so it stays tight when turning hard in the pocket.
Dane claimed best turn of his life on this board in the Rip Curl Search Puerto Rico contest in 2010.
