East DRC: a programme aims at particularly helping the reintegration of Children Associated with Armed Forces and Groups (CAAFAG), and other vulnerable children within the community, through schooling and vocational training.

In Masisi Territory, in North Kivu Province, the verdant hills stretch as far as the eye can see. It is an agricultural region, known for its cattle-rearing, and for its cheeses, exported throughout the DRC. It is also an isolated area with little in the way of basic infrastructure to improve everyday life for its inhabitants.

On Wednesday, 19 April, the UNDP in Goma officially opened its Library on Sustainable Development. It is a new opportunity for Goma residents from all walks of life to get informed for free about subjects related to development. The event was attended by the UNDP DRC Country Director as well as representatives from United Nations organizations, universities and graduate schools in Goma.

The President of the Executive Board of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) today welcomed the appointment of Achim Steiner as the Organization’s new Administrator. Mr Steiner’s nomination for UNDP Administrator was forwarded by Secretary-General António Guterres to the General Assembly, which today confirmed him as the Administrator of UNDP for a term of four years.

On Thursday 23 March 2017, His Excellency Mr Hiroshi Karube, Japan’s Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo, took part in a joint review by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Japan, as well as the presentation of 900 Panasonic solar lantern kits, a gift from the Japanese company to the Democratic Republic of Congo through the UNDP.
