Retirement on the cards for lucky Lotto winners who bought ticket in Canberra

A lucky visit to Canberra has won a regional NSW couple more than $750,000 in the weekend's Saturday Lotto.

The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, could make their dream of retiring come true after they bought their winning Lotto entry from Curtin Newsagency while visiting the ACT.

But news of the win is still sinking in and they have yet to decide what to do with their haul.

The winning man admitted they had been left dumbfounded by their win.

"We were stunned then and we're even more stunned now," he said.

"We got the numbers on Sunday and started checking the ticket and we thought, 'gosh! We've got the six numbers!'. We couldn't believe it!"

The entry was one of five division one winners nationally, and one of two in NSW, in Saturday's Lotto draw. Each won a division one prize of $792,331.

Curtin Newsagency & Post Office owner Thuy Nguyen said the outlet was celebrating selling another division one winning entry.

"We sold a division one winning ticket about this time last year, but our biggest to date was a $20 million Oz Lotto ticket in 2009," he said.

"We're all very excited for the winner. I called my wife as soon as I heard that we'd sold another winning ticket."

The Lotto's division one winning tally has now reached 345 so far this financial year, including 95 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
