I'm a Melbourne filmmaker creating a short documentary that will explore the topic: Why are Millennials buying vinyl records?

Do you have something you'd like to say about our current generation's obsession with LP records? Do you have a big record collection that you'd like to show the world? Or would you simply like to share your passion for the art of collecting tangible musical artifacts? If you answered yes to any of those questions, we'd love to hear from you.

The documentary will primarily focus on millennials relationship with records, but to paint a better picture we're looking for participants of varying demographics, eg. what records meant to baby boomers compared to millennials, how the relationship has changed.

What we’re hoping to find:

  • Passionate collectors
  • DJs who still use records to create or perform
  • Cynics with an opposing critique on record collecting
  • More...

Message directly if you are interested. Our crew are looking to film asap.

I seriously just want to sit in a room with other musicians and play music with no other goals or aspirations other than to just enjoy the act of making music with other humans. Anyone keen?

Hey just asking if anyone knows of any hip hop merchandise stores that sell anything related to Rhymesayers label (artists specifically like Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, P.O.S. etc) in Melbourne? The only place I can get merch for those artists is through US stores online like Fifth Element and The Giant Peach, and I'd prefer not to if possible.

Thanks :)

New to melbs and have been here for 3 months and haven't picked up a set of sticks in this time. I like to play reggae, ska, dub, and stoner metal. Also just trying to meet people as well.

There's this nice page that is Perth based called "the gas station", if you know, is there a Melbournian equivalent? I'll settle for an honest store but mainly looking to buy secondhand. Thank you :)
