Gujarat
Gujarat (/ˌɡʊdʒəˈrɑːt/ Gujǎrāt [ˈɡudʒ(ə)ɾaːt]) is a state in the western part of India known locally as Jewel of the Western part of India. It has an area of 196,204 km2 (75,755 sq mi) with a coastline of 1,600 km (990 mi), most of which lies on the Kathiawar peninsula, and a population in excess of 60 million. The state is bordered by Rajasthan to the north, Maharashtra to the south, Madhya Pradesh to the east, and the Arabian Sea, as well as the Pakistani province of Sindh to the west. Its capital city is Gandhinagar, while its largest city is Ahmedabad. Gujarat is home to the Gujarati-speaking people of India.
The state encompasses major sites of the ancient Indus Valley Civilization, such as Lothal and Dholavira. Lothal is believed to be one of the world's first seaports. Gujarat's coastal cities, chiefly Bharuch and Khambhat, served as ports and trading centres in the Maurya and Gupta empires, and during the succession of royal Saka dynasties from the Western Satraps era, whose geographic territories included Saurashtra and Malwa: modern Gujarat, South Sindh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh states.

Narendra Modi
Narendra Damodardas Modi (Gujarati: [nəreːnd̪rə d̪ɑːmoːd̪ərəd̪ɑːs moːd̪iː], born 17 September 1950) is the 15th and current Prime Minister of India, in office since 26 May 2014. Modi, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014 and is the Member of Parliament (MP) from Varanasi. He led the BJP in the 2014 general election, which gave the party a majority in the Lok Sabha (the lower house of the Indian parliament) – a first for any party since 1984 – and was credited for 2014 BJP electoral victories in the states of Haryana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir.
Since taking office as Prime Minister, Modi's administration has focused on reforming and modernising India's infrastructure and government, reducing bureaucracy, encouraging increased foreign direct investment, improving national standards of health and sanitation and improving foreign relations. Modi has been appreciated for starting initiatives like Swachh Bharat Mission, Make in India and Digital India. Earlier, as Chief Minister of Gujarat, Modi's economic policies (credited with encouraging economic growth in Gujarat) have been praised, although his administration has also been criticised for failing to significantly improve the human development in the state and failing to prevent the 2002 Gujarat riots. A Hindu nationalist and a former member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Modi remains a controversial figure domestically and internationally, despite his progressivism. Known for his tech savvy image, he is the second most followed politician on social media after U.S. President Barack Obama.

Six lane of Vadodara-Surat section of NH-8(New NH-48) including construction of a new four lane extradosd bridge across river Narmada in the state of Gujarat. This is the largest extradosed span in India and first extradosed bridge in the state of Gujarat. Total length of the bridge is 1344mt and width is 20.8 m This section used to experience traffic build-up from 30 minutes to 2 hours which will now get fully addressed with the completion of the project, minimizing inconvenience to the road users and shall allow smooth and safe movement of traffic.

* Kutch district (also spelled as Kachchh) is a district of Gujarat state in western India. Covering an area of 45,652 km²,[1] it is the largest district of India. The population of Kutch is 2,092,371.[2] It has 10 Talukas, 939 villages and 6 Municipalities.[2]
* Kutch literally means something which intermittently becomes wet and dry; a large part of this district is known as Rann of Kutch which is shallow wetland which submerges in water during the rainy season and becomes dry during other seasons. The same word is also used in Sanskrit origin for a tortoise. The Rann is famous for its marshy salt flats which become snow white after the shallow water dries up each season before the monsoon rains.

Wild Frontiers' Jonny Bealby presents a travel guide to Rajasthan and the north of India.
For Wild Frontiers Rajasthan and the North consists of the north-western states of Rajasthan, Gujarat and the Punjab, with Delhi and Agra thrown in for good measure.
Over half of all first time travellers to India visit Rajasthan and for good reason. With a plethora of magnificent monuments, its vibrant cities and fairy-tale heritage of Rajput palaces -- now converted into some of the most atmospheric hotels anywhere in the world -- Rajasthan is arguably India's most colourful state.
First and foremost there is the Golden Triangle; a natural routing that takes you from Delhi, with its great flight connections, through Agra and the essential Taj Mahal to Jaipur, the states capital and one of the most lively and evocative towns in the whole region. From here you can travel southwest through Pushkar, with its famous camel fair, Jodhpur, the Blue City, and on to Udaipur and the Venice of the East.
Or you could head out on the more remote but every bit as romantic desert routing, heading due west our of Delhi on what was one of the southern branches of the Old Silk Road to take in Bikanir, Nagaur and the most famous of all the desert town, Jailsalmer.
But there's also another way to go, to travel on a slower routing through the Rajasthani countryside, staying at some of the States most romantic rural palaces such as at Ramathra, Bhensrorgarh, Deogarh or Castle Bijaipur -- which is where I am now.
This really is quintessential India; the India of our childhood imagination, a calm quiet land where little of modern India appears, a place that is perfect for walking, cycling, riding or just relaxing.
Further afield there is the very under explored and deeply fascinating state of Gujarat. This is a region of fabulous temples, such as the amazing world heritage site at Palitana -- where I was two years back recceying our new trip to the region.
Gujarat is also home to some extraordinary landscapes and wildlife and some of the most diverse and interesting people in the country. Those of you a that are interested in textiles should make a special effort to come here as they are among the best the country, if not the world, can offer.
And finally another fascinating place to squeeze into this region is Amristsar. Holy city to the Sikhs, it is home to the amazing Golden Temple, the infamous Jahwallah Barg and the peculiar but utterly captivating, closing of the gate ceremony at the border with Pakistan. Which is something that has to be seen to be believed!
As I said at the start, most people coming to India will visit Rajasthan and the North -- and for very good reason. It offers everything the first timer or committed Indophile needs to have an amazing Indian experience.

It is the Jewel of Western India. The state is bordered by Rajasthan to the north, Maharashtra to the south, Madhya Pradesh to the east, and the Arabian Sea and the Pakistani province of Sindh to the west. Its capital city is Gandhinagar, while its largest city is Ahmedabad. Gujarat is home to the Gujarati-speaking people of India.
1) Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary
Gir is the only natural habitat of world popular Asiatic Lions. coupled with thousands of other elusive wild animals and hard-to-find birds like uncommon Asiatic wild ass, hyenas, Gir foxes, pygmy woodpecker, brown fish owl and black buck etc.
2) Akshardham
The complex was built over 13 years and is a tribute to Swaminarayan and his life and teachings.At the center of the 23-acre complex is the Akshardham mandir, which is built from 6,000 metric tons of pink sandstone from Rajasthan. On September 24, 2002, two armed terrorists attacked Akshardham, killing 33 people and wounding 70. The Indian National Security Guard intervened and ended the siege by killing both terrorists. A prayer assembly led by Pramukh Swami was organized on September 29, 2002, with attendees praying for the departed souls and their families and also for communal and sectarian peace.
3) Great Rann Of Kutch
The Great Rann of Kutch is a seasonal salt marsh located in the Thar Desert. It is about 7,505.22 square kilometres in size and is reputed to be one of the largest salt desert in the world.This is one of the hottest areas of India - with summer temperatures averaging and peaking at 49.5 C. Winter temperatures reduce dramatically and can go below 0 °C. The Government of Gujarat hosts an annual 3 month long festival called the Rann Utsav (festival of the Rann), where tourists can see the various sights of the Rann as well as get a taste of the local culture, cuisine and hospitality.
4) Kankaria Lake
It was constructed by Sultan Qutb-ud-Din at Ahmedabad in the year 1451. There is a popular saying that Kankaria lake of Ahmedabad was often visited by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir along with his wife Empress Noor Jahan. It is a great crowd pulling leisure spot. It is good place to hangout with family or friends. Here you get many modes of entertainment like, toy train, hot air balloon etc. Its really more colourful after evening with all its excellent lighting.
5) Laxmi Vilas Palace
The palace is situated in a massive 700 acre of land. The stunning interiors of the palace and the opulent furnishings are awe-inspiring. It is reputed to have been the largest private dwelling built till date and four times the size of Buckingham Palace. At the time of construction it boasted the most modern amenities such as elevators and the interior is reminiscent of a large European country house. It remains the residence of the Royal Family, who continue to be held in high esteem by the residents of Baroda.
6) Somnath
Somnath Temple is known as "the Shrine Eternal". This legendary temple has been destroyed and rebuilt several times by Islamic kings and Hindu kings respectively. Most recently it was rebuilt in November 1947, when Vallabhbhai Patel visited the area for the integration of Junagadh and mooted a plan for restoration.The temple is open daily from 6AM to 9PM. There are 3 aarti daily; in the morning at 07:00, at 12:00 and in the evening at 19:00. It is also believed that this is the place where Krishna ended his lila on earth and left for his heavenly abode.
7) Jhulta Minara
The Sidi Bashir Mosque is located in the city of Ahmedaba, due to its unique construction, the mosque is also called Jhulta Minar or Shaking Minarets.The mosque is located opposite the Ahmedabad Railway station and is one of the most popular tourist destinations of Ahmedabad. Entry to the shaking minaret was prohibited following an incident at Qutb Minar in Delhi, where a stampede resulted in many children being crushed.
8) Sabarmati Ashram / Mahatma Gandhi's Home
Timings: 8:30am - 6:00pm
This Ashram was established by Mahatma Gandhi on a quiet stretch of the Sabarmati river in 1917, it is a very calm and soothing place. Gandhi Ashram is the most popular tourist place in the city. It is mostly visited by tourists due to its importance. It was from here, in 1930, that Mahatma began his famous "Dandi March" to the sea to protest against the Salt Tax imposed by the British. The ashram houses a museum, library, auditorium and photo galleries.
9) Dumas Beach
This beach is believed to be one of the most haunted places of India.Apart from the beach, places of interest at Dumas including the Dariya Ganesh Temple located adjacent to the main beach.

It is an intricately constructed stepwell situated in the town of Patan. It is located on the banks of Saraswati River. Rani ki vav was built as a memorial to an 11th century AD king. It was added to the list of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites on 22 June 2014.

He was agreed on the condition that they (Krishna & Rukmini) have to carry the chariot instead of any animal. Krishna & Rukmini happily agreed to do so. While driving the chariot, Rukmini became thirsty.Then Krishna stopped the chariot and made water of Holy River Ganga by digging with his toe. "Durvasha" annoyed by the action and curse Rukmini to stay away from Shri Krishna Hence Rukmini temple is located 2 kms. Away from Dwarka's Jagat Mandir. It is widely believed among the devotees that the pilgrimage is incomplete if a devotee doesn't go to offer prayers at Rukmini Temple even if he worshiped the Lord at Dwarkadheesh temple.

It is believed that Lord Krishna destroyed a demon named Bhaumasura and freed 16,000 princesses from his palace at this place. This place got its name as Gopi Talavs after the Gopi princesses,and fell in love with their lover lord Krishna and wanted to marry Krishna. Gopi Talab Dwarka Gujarat is a small pond bounded by sandal like yellow sand and it is known as Gopi Chandan.This Chandan is used by devotees of Lord Krishna to make Tilak marks on their bodies.It is believed to be the place where gopis came to see Lord Krishna in Dwarka.Gopi Talab is famous for Hindu religions. Gopi Talav Story of God Krishna's childhood flourish with young mischief and romance has a connection with this pond.He used to dance the raas with the Gopis in Vrindavan. When he stimulated to Dwarka, the Gopis could not bear the partition and came to stay him.Krishna would ever dance and sing a song and play his godly instrument flute could not live alienated from Lord for a long time.

The Great Rann of Kutch is a seasonal salt marsh located in the Thar Desert in the Kutch District of Gujarat, India and the Sindh province of Pakistan. It is about 7,505.22 square kilometres (2,897.78 sq mi) in size and is reputed to be the largest salt desert in the world.[1] This area has been inhabited by the Kutchi people.[2]
The name "Rann" comes from the Hindi word ran (रण) meaning "desert". The Hindi word is derived from Sanskrit/Vedic word iriṇa (इरिण) attested in the Rigveda and Mahābhārata. As early as 325 BCE, Alexander the Great was aware of the area.[3]

Even before I checked into the resort in Dasada village in the Little Rann of Kutch Wildlife Sanctuary region in Gujarat, they had me impressed. Asking for directions while driving from Udaipur, they suggested I visit attractions like the Modhera Sun Temple and Patan on the way - it sure saved me a drive back from Dasada later to cover these.
You go to the Little Rann to explore the salt desert and sight wildlife - and if you are not in able hands, you could just have an average experience. Rann Riders had a highly knowledgeable and experienced guide waiting for me, who knew just where to go and at what time to spot the animals, birds and the landscape. You don’t want to travel all the way just to stay in a good resort - there is a purpose to it, and Rann Riders know it.
The resort itself adds to the delight of being there. An ethnically designed eco-resort, it has the appearance of a local village with amenities for your comfort thrown in. Cottages are designed to resemble the ‘Kooba’ houses of the Bajania community of Dasada and the ‘Bhunga’ houses of the Rabaris of Kutch, decorated with mirrors, mud-plaster work and embroideries. * Service: Awesome. From housekeeping to meals to your safaris and sightseeing, the staff is always at hand extending full courtesies in an efficient manner. Tough to fault them.
* Rooms: Traditionally designed but furnished with modern comforts. Rooms are very spacious, with double beds and chairs. Furnishings are hand embroidered linen and cushion covers from nearby villages. Rooms are air-conditioned, bathrooms are fitted with hot and cold showers and western-style toilet fittings, and there is a dry dressing area too. You can lounge in the rooms, or in the verandahs or swinging sofas outside.
* Location: Easily accessible, and just the place to go off for your safaris.
* Amenities: There is a large dining area where you can lounge all day on their comfortable sofas with bolsters and cushions. You can walk around on the footpaths along the lawns, or take a dip in the pool. A small shop allows shopaholics to pick up some local handicrafts.

Yet when the heart takes over the mind, the outcome is a mindless tragedy.Crime Patrol- Dastak will attempt to look at the signs, the signals that are always there before these mindless crimes are committed. Instincts/Feelings/Signals that so often tell us that not everything is normal. May be, that signal/feeling/instinct is just not enough to believe it could result in a crime. Unfortunately after the crime is committed, those same signals come haunting.
