Our one-year Higher Education (HE) Diploma courses provide guaranteed entry into the second year of nominated bachelor degrees, following successful completion of the course.
VU's HE Diplomas are delivered by VU staff on VU’s campuses and are designed to prepare students for success in the second and third years of undergraduate study.
VU College offers the following one-year HE Diplomas:
- Diploma of Business (Enterprise)
- Diploma of Information Technology
- Diploma of Engineering (international students only)
By studying a HE Diploma, you will:
- enjoy more focused academic and English support with smaller class sizes, to better prepare you for success when you transfer to a bachelor degree
- be guaranteed entry into the second year of nominated bachelor degrees, following successful completion of the diploma

Diploma of Business (Enterprise)
By successfully completing a Diploma of Business (Enterprise) at Victoria University you will be guaranteed entry into the second year of a Bachelor of Business degree in any of our business specialisations.
You will study foundation skills across a broad range of business areas including accounting, management, marketing, economics, communications and information technology.
Students studying in Melbourne can take advantage of our new city teaching space on the top floors of our City Flinders campus.
This Diploma is also offered at a number of our international partner institutions in China.
Diploma of Information Technology
The Diploma of Information Technology, taught at our Footscray Nicholson campus, helps students to learn the fundamentals of information technology over a slightly longer, 15 week semester. This course builds the necessary literacy and numeracy skills required for success in the second and third years of bachelor study.
This course offers guaranteed entry into the second year of our Bachelor of Information Technology degree upon successful completion. In this Bachelor degree you can major in developing web and mobile applications, or network and systems.
You can also study this Diploma with our international partner institution, Henan University in China.
Diploma of Engineering
Study our Diploma of Engineering and learn foundation skills in mathematics, physics and problem solving. This will prepare you for study in any of our bachelor degrees in engineering, in which you can major in architectural, civil, electrical or mechanical engineering.
On completion of this diploma you can enter into the second year of:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Architectural Engineering) (Honours)
- Bachelor of Engineering (Civil Engineering) (Honours)
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) (Honours)
- Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (Honours)

VU College Diploma Merit Scholarship
The VU College Diploma Merit Scholarship rewards students for academic achievement. International students who meet a distinction average in their first semester of a one-year diploma at VU College will receive a $2000 grant for their second semester of studies.
