-
Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?
I specialize in the following areas of the garden service industry:
Garden clean ups
Weeding
Lawn mowing

General landscaping
Trimming by hand -
How do you normally charge for your service?
It is Normally a capped price, not hourly. Each job is given a set price usually for a regular service or once off job.
-
What makes your pricing competitive?
I run a lean and light business so my rates are generally 20 to 30% cheaper than my competition plus with my high level of my experience my prices are excellent value overall.
-
Are there any special offers you would like to offer to Oneflare customers?
Free garden care package with every regular lawn maintenance service. This includes periodic fertilizer and/or aeration service in appropriate seasons.
-
How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips
Customers can save money before the work is started with the following tips:
Text address, job details and contact details for fast response time and onsite quote
Agree upon any regular service includes discounts, one off jobs are full rate
Ensure green bins as local tips charge $95+ for a load -
What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?
I need to physically inspect the job before I provide a final quote as jobs are often very different in person than just looking at a photo and it's not professional to quote photos as this can lead to inaccurate pricing so I do not offer quotes without first seeing job. On site quotes with written details agreed by client ensures satisfaction and a job well done.
-
What makes you the most reliable and trustworthy person for the job?
- 25 Years Experience in all types of garden and lawn work
- We do same day services for contacts before 10am
- We are a full time, full service gardening business which means we care about our reputation and we want you coming back. Gardening is our full time business, not like part time cheap cowboys
- We use text messaging to ensure all your instructions and our communications are in written form to avoid confusion or dramas.
- We guarantee our work, meaning if you are not happy we will fix it free. -
What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?
I am normally asked my hourly rate but this depends on what type of job it is. My rate is between $40 and $55 per hour usually depending on type of job
-
How did you decide to get into your line of work?
I started in my Dad's family business in Melbourne suburbs back in 1986 and gained my gardening experience from there.
-
Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?
Yes we are insured and all work is guaranteed so that clients have peace of mind that they are getting the job done right
-
What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?
Text message specific instructions and you can't go wrong. Written is better than voice in business.
Ask how many years they have experience.
Ask about price. Here is a guide:
$20-$34 per hour will give you a part time cowboy who is not interested in a long term relationship. They will give you a fast and rough job.$35-$50 per hour; professional and high quality service, usually independents who care about their reputation.
Franchisees: Very random, some know what they are doing but many don't, but charge premium rates up to $70 per hour.
Reviews don't always tell the full picture so pricing is usually a better guide. Expect a mix of all types of reviews for a genuine picture of a business.
The biggest source of bad reviews is miscommunication between customer and business. That's why text messaging your instructions is the best way to avoid problems.

What do you like most about your job?
Being able to save customers time and money via our service, especially the regular service aspect and also seeing a job well done.
-
Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?
Favourite customers are like our friend Bob long ago in Sydney who agreed to a regular 2-3 weekly service 12 months of the year. He would leave the money out back ready each 2nd Wednesday and often liked to have a chat after job was done. We consider customers like this as our 5 star, top rated.
