Hunt for Holland Park West gunman

A hunt is underway for a gunman in Brisbane who shot a 38-year-old man on Saturday night. Vision: Channel Seven.

Acting Inspector Greg Veivers told reporters he made the emergency declaration because the gunman was still at large and police wanted to protect other residents of the area.

"Someone's been wounded and we were quite convinced someone was still outstanding with a firearm and there was the potential for further injuries," he said.

Police cordoned off an area taking in Logan Rd, Barton Rd, Castle Hill St, Hocking St, Martin St and Nursery Rd.

The 38-year-old victim was treated at the scene by a doctor who was in the area before being taken to hospital.

Police believe the incident was not a random one and have set up a crime scene at Logan Road.

The emergent situation has been revoked, but the manhunt continues.
