China, officially the People's Republic of China (PRC), is a sovereign state in East Asia. It is the world's most populous country, with a population of over 1.35 billion. The PRC is a one-party state governed by the Communist Party, with its seat of government in the capital city of Beijing. It exercises jurisdiction over 22 provinces; five autonomous regions; four direct-controlled municipalities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Chongqing); two mostly self-governing special administrative regions (Hong Kong and Macau); and claims sovereignty over Taiwan.
Covering approximately 9.6 million square kilometers, China is the world's second-largest country by land area, and either the third or fourth-largest by total area, depending on the method of measurement. China's landscape is vast and diverse, ranging from forest steppes and the Gobi and Taklamakan deserts in the arid north to subtropical forests in the wetter south. The Himalaya, Karakoram, Pamir and Tian Shan mountain ranges separate China from South and Central Asia. The Yangtze and Yellow Rivers, the third- and sixth-longest in the world, run from the Tibetan Plateau to the densely populated eastern seaboard. China's coastline along the Pacific Ocean is 14,500 kilometres (9,000 mi) long, and is bounded by the Bohai, Yellow, East and South China Seas.

Plot: Filmmaker Shirley Clarke ("The Connection") directs this powerful, stark semi-documentary look at the horrors of Harlem ghetto slum life filled with drugs, violence, human misery, and a sense of despair due to the racial prejudices of American society. There is no patronizing of the black race in this cinematic cry for justice. A fifteen-year-old boy called Duke is ambitious to buy a "piece" (a gun) from an adult racketeer named Priest, to become president of the gang to which he belongs, and to return them to active "bopping" (gang fighting) which has declined in Harlem. It is a clearly patent allegory of an attempt by Duke to attain manhood and identity in the only way accessible to him - the antisocial one.

Inside China's sports schools in search for next Olympic star Heartbreaking images of a child crying have emerged from a children's school in China, a country where in the past, young children have been placed in schools designed to train future Olympic champions. It's one of many pictures captured in sporting schools across China of young children being put through gruelling training routines at ages as young as six. China's sports system has been enormously successful since the country returned to the Olympic fold in 1980, culminating with the host nation topping the medals' table at the 2008 Beijing Olympics with only a sl...

With China’s impressive growth in recent decades it has been able to make great strides in reducing child and maternal mortality and establishing near-universal health insurance coverage. But with a slowing economy, an aging population and rising costs, the system needs further reforms.
In China, medical care is extremely unequally distributed. Those who live in the countryside dare not fall ill, because there's usually not enough money for treatment. Health insurance covers only 40 or 50 percent of the cost savings. More Reports from Global 3000: http://www.dw.de/english/global3000

After centuries of Western dominance, the world's centre of economic and political weight is shifting eastward. In just 30 years, China has risen from long-standing poverty to being the second largest economy in the world -- faster than any other country in history. From angry farmers to weary migrant workers, powerful politicians and everyone in between, what China says and does, has become of undeniable importance to the entire world.
The world's wealthy countries often criticise African nations for corruption -- especially that perpetrated by those among the continent's government and business leaders who abuse their positions by looting tens of billions of dollars in national assets or the profits from state-owned enterprises that could otherwise be use to relieve the plight of some of the world's poorest peoples.

It is deadly, it is spreading quickly and most of the world has never heard of it. Chagas, a parasitic disease is spread by the vinchucas bug bite. In rural Argentina villagers speak of "muerte subita" or rapid death caused by Chagas. It can eat away at the cardiac muscle until the patient's heart ruptures. Chagas affects about 18 million people worldwide, most of them in Latin America and may kill as many as 50,000 each year. With more and more rural to urban migration the disease is migrating as well. While it is easy to diagnose with a blood test, it presents few obvious symptoms so many of those infected may nev...

Honduras has become the newest front in the US war on drugs in Latin America. The US has provided financial support for both the police and the military there in spite of its deep corruption issues. Furthermore, members of both institutions have been linked to a range of killings. Political dissidents, human rights workers and members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community have all been killed at alarming rates. In May, a mission in the Moskitia region, which was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), left four innocent civilians killed and four others wounded. It was followed by two more incidents where a US DEA agent shot and killed an alleged drug trafficker. Local communities have demanded a thorough investigation but so far nothing has been done. ...

Top Things to do in China! I know that this is long overdue and that I haven't posted a video in a while, but seriously China!! Anyways, this list is less about the top attractions in China and more about the best ones. Moreover, it features the off the beaten path destinations in China as well. So what are the most incredible things to do in China. Here's my take: 10) Changsha and the Mao Zedong Staute (长沙和毛泽东雕像) This is crazy, in the capital of Hunan Province there's a giant statue of Mao Zedong that looks like something out of Mount Rushmore. Definitely a top thing to see in China. 9) Bifengxia Panda Base (碧峰峡大熊猫保护区) The Panda Center in Chengdu is a bit over-touristed. That's why it's a great option to head to Bifengxia on the edge of the village of Ya'an, and up to this amazing ...

Always on my own
I've been spending too much time all alone
I just can't go on, no
Nights go flying by
End this walk and empty talk
Turn the world into wine
You can't be here
Losing track of time
You are always on my mind
I've been too long without you
When the moment's drawing near
When you'll never disappear
I'm going to love you
I'm going to love you forever
Since you came along
You're locked inside me
Nothing can't go wrong when you're beside me
When I feel you next to me
In the middle of the night
In the middle of a lonely night
You take me out of the cold
In the middle of the night
In the middle of a lonely night
You held the darkness and fold yeah
Feeling sacred in your arms
I'm protected from all harm
You'll always surround me
Cos the moment's finally here
When you'll never disappear
I'm going to love you
I'm going to love you forever
Since you came along
You're locked inside me
Nothing can go wrong when youre beside me
When I feel you next to me
In the middle of the night
In the middle of a lonely night
You take me out of the cold
In the middle of the night
In the middle of a lonely night
You held the darkness and fold
We make love at first light
I know it's love and I know that it's real
I know it's love, we both know what we feel
I know it's for you, and I know it's for me
I'm going to love you for the rest of my life
In the middle of the night
In the middle of a lonely night
You take me out of the cold
In the middle of the night
In the middle of a lonely night
You held the darkness and fold
We make love at first light
In the middle of the night
In the middle of a lonely night
You take me out of the cold
In the middle of the night
In the middle of a lonely night
You held the darkness and fold
We make love at first light
In the middle of the night
In the middle of a lonely night
You take me out of the cold
In the middle of the night
In the middle of a lonely night
