Thank you for deciding to whitelist WIRED.com. Here’s how to do it:
Note: if you are running multiple extensions that perform ad or script blocking you will need to individually update each one.
Update January 3 2017:
- Adblock Users: If you have previously whitelisted WIRED.com and continue see the adblock notice please be aware that there is a bug in Adblock that disables whitelisting when accessing WIRED.com via a redirected link e.g. Facebook, Twitter or Email. We have filed a support ticket with Adblock and await their response and resolution. Please contact Adblock directly for technical support.
Update Sept 8 2016:
- Adblock Plus Users: If you have previously whitelisted WIRED.com and continue see the adblock notice please be aware that there is a bug in Adblock Plus that disables whitelisting when accessing WIRED.com via a redirected link e.g. Facebook, Twitter or Email. As a fix for the bug has been submitted, we anticipate the problem will be resolved with the next update to Adblock Plus. Please contact Adblock Plus directly for technical support. Restart your browser to ensure you have the latest version with the bug patched.
Adblock Plus
- Click the Adblock Plus icon.
- Click “Enabled on this site” to disable ad blocking for the current site.
- In Firefox Click “disable on wired.com” to disable ad blocking.
- Reload the WIRED page you were viewing.
Firefox Tracking Protection
- In Firefox “Tracking Protection” may activate our adblock notice. It can be temporarily disabled for a browsing session by clicking the “shield” icon in the url bar if visible and following the instructions.
Adblock
- Click the Ad Block icon.
- Click “Don’t run on pages on this domain”.
- Reload the WIRED page you were viewing.
Ghostery
- Click the Ghostery icon.
- In Ghostery versions < 6.0 Click “Whitelist site”.
- In Ghostery version 7.0 click “trust site”
- In Versions < 6.0 You will see the message “Site is whitelisted”. Click “reload the page to see your changes.”
- Reload the WIRED page you were viewing.
uBlock / uBlock Origin
- Click the uBlock / uBlock Origin icon.
- Click the “power” button in the menu that appears to whitelist the current web site.
- Click the reload icon to reload the WIRED page you were viewing.
Disconnect
- Click the Disconnect icon.
- Click “Whitelist site”.
NoScript
Because of NoScript’s flexibility, it can be a lot of work to get the correct results. We recommend using a different tool. If you must, use the ABE and closely follow their FAQ and documentation.
Corporate, Governmental and Institutional Network content filtering, hosts files and JavaScript blocking
Blocking sites via a firewall, router, hosts file or other software, depending on the configuration, may cause the adblocking notice to appear because they are blocking the files and scripts required to display ads.
Note that if you are using a combination of extensions, you may need to reload several times to achieve whitelisting.
