Public Interest Disclosure Act 2013

Public Interest Disclosure Act 2013

The Public Interest Disclosure Act 2013 (the PID Act) commenced on 15 January 2014. The purpose of the Act is to promote integrity and accountability and creates a framework to encourage reporting of serious wrongdoing by public officials in the Commonwealth public sector, including SBS. Any Commonwealth government employee or contractor can make a public interest disclosure under the Act.

If you wish to report actual or suspected wrongdoing within the SBS, it is important that you use the proper channels, and that you maintain confidentiality of your allegation by not disclosing it to persons who are not authorised to deal with it. Failing to comply with the proper procedures may compromise both your protection from adverse consequences, and our ability to properly investigate your allegation.

Further information on the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2013 is available at the Commonwealth Ombudsman’s website http://www.ombudsman.gov.au/pages/pid/

If you believe you have a public interest disclosure relating to SBS please contact our authorised officers by email at PID@sbs.com.au
