Alleged photography studio child rapist remains behind bars

A Brisbane photographer allegedly raped a girl repeatedly over as many as three years after using his studio to "procure and abuse" children.

One other child was allegedly indecently dealt with while police alleged he drugged a third person with the intent to commit an offence.

Photographer charged with child abuse

A 38-year-old Brisbane photographer is charged with 79 child sex offences including seven counts of rape. 7 News Queensland

The 38-year-old, who can't be named for legal reasons, was remanded in custody after his case was heard in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday morning.

Specialist child sex crimes police from Taskforce Argos arrested the man on Thursday, charging him with dozens of child sex charges.

He allegedly offered services to parents via social media, specialising in "fine art photography" and "artistic dance portraits" of young children out of an Enoggera-based photography studio.

The alleged rapes occurred across Brisbane but not in Enoggera between 2010 and 2014 at Shailer Park, Geebung, Mount Cotton and South Brisbane.

He was charged with 26 indecent treatment charges stemmed from alleged incidents across a similar area between 2010 and 2013, 24 of which related to the one girl.

Another 30 incidents of having unlawful carnal knowledge of a child allegedly took place as recently as 2014.

The photographer, whose website has been pulled down, was also accused of taking an image classed as child exploitation material of the girl between August 2012 and 2015.

Police alleged he indecently treated another child, believed to be a boy, between June 2012 and 2013, and supplied the child with cannabis in June 2014.

He allegedly used a sleeping pill to stupefy a third victim in 2012 or 2013 with the intent to commit an indictable offence.

Of 79 total charges, 74 related to the alleged rape victim.

The man didn't appear in court or apply for bail.

An accused rapist alleged to have used his Brisbane photography studio to procure and sexually abuse children will remain behind bars.

The 38-year-old, who can't be named for legal reasons, had his case heard in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday on almost 80 charges, including rape, indecent treatment, carnal knowledge of children under 16 and making child exploitation material.

He allegedly offered services to parents via social media, specialising in "fine art photography" and "artistic dance portraits" of young children out of an Enoggera-based photography studio.

He is also alleged to have drugged a minor in order to commit an offence.

The man didn't appear in court as his matter was heard on Friday morning and did not apply for bail.

The case was adjourned to February 20 and the photographer was remanded in custody.

In total the man faces 79 offences, including 26 counts of indecent treatment, 30 counts of carnal knowledge of child under 16, 13 counts of take child for immoral purposes and seven counts of rape.
