Temperatures are expected to soar between five and 10 degrees above average on Wednesday with the Bureau of Meteoroloedgy predicting a high of 35 degrees in the city, 38 in Ipswich, 39 in Boonah and Gatton, and temperatures hitting the low 40s in western Queensland.

Queensland Ambulance Service director of clinical quality and patient safety Tony Hucker warned people, especially the young and old, to take the medical danger seriously.
He said heat illness could "sneak up on you" with a headache and vomiting or show symptoms as severe as abnormal behaviour or collapsing.
"We need to be careful. It's going to be really hot," he said.
"So what we understand about the temperatures we're going to see over the next couple of days is that if you're not careful, you can actually get really really sick.
"So it's all about making sure you avoid the hottest part of the day. Keep your fluids up. Wear some light clothing if you can."
Forecast temperatures are a little lower - but still hot - on Thursday and Friday thanks to a southerly change, with a forecast of 34 degrees for both days in Brisbane.
BOM forecaster Michael Knepp said Saturday could either be very hot like Wednesday or reach just 32 degrees, depending on when the southerly change comes through.
"On Saturday we have another southerly change coming up the coast, and the timing will be quite important," he said.
"If it comes through quite early we might not have another hot day."
Mr Knepp said if the change comes through later in the afternoon on Saturday temperatures could reach 37 degrees, but if the change happens in the morning things will be cooler.
He said high minimum temperatures overnight this week would keep people uncomfortable.
The overnight temperatures for Wednesday and Thursday nights are forecast to only drop to 25 degrees, while Friday night/Saturday morning will be 27 degrees.
The relief will come on Sunday, with a forecast miniumum of 23 and a high of 30 degrees.
