Police have removed fishing wire from a road in Kewdale after it was strung across a street on Friday morning.
A motorist alerted Belmont Police to the incident after driving their vehicle through the clear wire, causing it to hit their windscreen and go over the top of the car.
The line was tied to a street sign pole on one side of the road and a tree on the opposite side.
Belmont Police senior sergeant Peter Woollons said the incident occurred on Acton Avenue near Cottage Park, with another resident reporting fishing wire across their driveway on nearby Kew Street.
"Police have attended and removed the wire," he said.
"We advised the shire but we haven't had any more incidents or reports.
"There is a guy on a road bike that cuts through the park in the morning, it might be somebody having a go after that one person."
In December 2015, a Guildford motorcyclist was seriously injured when he rode through rope tied between to points across Wellington Street in Perth. A group of people, including two children were charged over the incident.
Two months later, a 16-year-old dirt bike rider was injured after riding through wire strung across a bushtrack in Mariginiup.
Following Friday's incident, Belmont police were urging people to drive with care around Kewdale and report any suspicious activity.
