WA Police kept busy on Christmas Day as serious law-breakers abound

  • 34 reading now

WA Police have been out in full force over the holiday season, and their social media reports suggest local law-breakers have been keeping them busy around the state on Christmas Day.

Cunderdin Police took to Twitter to post about a run-in with the driver of a Toyota Landcruiser caught doing 155 kilometres in a 110 zone, with two babies on board.

WA Police are some of the hardest workers in the state, but it's cases like these which can help them solve crimes quicker than expected.

Meanwhile, Broome Police posted about their experiences pulling over a driver who registered a blood alcohol level of 0.189.

Cue Police confiscated a large amount of alcohol from a 'liquor restricted' premises in the remote town - an offence which can carry a $2,000 price tag for the venue owner.

While alcohol was a common factor for charges made over the weekend, theft and family violence were also catalysts for police Christmas Day call-outs.

Kensington Detectives charged a 16-year-old boy with street robbery in Manning, and a 35-year-old man with setting fire to two vehicles in Queens Park.

Pinjarra Police were also called to attend  a father-son brawl on a suburban street, while a Lancelin driver had their car impounded for 28 days by police after they were caught doing 161 km p/h in a 110 zone.

As for those parents out there still confused if they can have a few Christmas drinks and get their learner-driver children to drive them home?

It's a hard 'no' from the WA Traffic Police.

Under the Road Traffic Act, a supervisor of a learner driver is limited to blood alcohol content below 0.05 - and for one Perth supervisor who clocked in at 0.095, it looks to be a long few months of walking ahead.
