MIGHTY HAS BEEN AT THE BROOKLYN CENTER SINCE AUGUST. HE IS A WIGGLE BUTT AND LOVES TO PLAY. LETS GET THIS 4 YEAR OLD SAFE SOON

SUPER URGENT 12/01/16 A volunteer writes: Have you been looking for a dog that is mighty fine, mighty fun, and mighty sweet? You’ve been looking for MIGHTY! He acts sort of like he never intends to grow out of puppyhood. He’s super wiggly and playful and when I kneel down to pet him he tries to jump in my lap at the first touch (you’re too big for that, Mighty!). He is very attentive and excited to be around people. Whenever I take him out he looks at me with a look of admiration and joy (and his eyes are slightly asymmetrical in the most adorable way!) and it isn’t long before he reveals his best-ever smile. He seems to have housetraining, could use some work on his leash manners, and will “sit” for treats (he’s very treat motivated and doesn’t seem picky). He loves to play with toys and fetch is a great outlet for his energy. You know how puppies act like anyone that gives them attention is the best?? Mighty will leave you with that feeling! He’s at Brooklyn ACC looking for someone to love, give him some guidance, and love him back.

But he allowed to be collard, scanned and photographed.

08/18/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Mighty came into our care centers as a stray so any past behaviors in home are unknown. During intake he was relaxed and allowed all handling to be conducted. Upon approaching his kennel, Mighty solicits handler attention, his body loose and wiggly. He pulls hard on leash during his relief walk. Entering the assessment room he displays brief bouts of exuberance, jumping up on handler to lick face, play bowing, light mouthing. Mighty is distracted throughout the assessment and a bit anxious though remains somewhat receptive to his handler. Any form of interaction results in play solicitation such as exuberant jumping, light mouthing pressure, but his body remains loose and wiggly. For look and squeeze portions of the assessment, Mighty is unable to settle and will not allow the assessor to perform these items. During sensitivity, Mighty leans into the handler though easily becomes distracted by noises outside of room. During tag, he attempts to engage briefly but is easily distracted by his surroundings. Mighty engages with the toy and keeps a firm grip, but readily disengages upon approach, his body is loose. Due to Mighty’s display of high energy and anxious behavior in the shelter environment, the behavior department believes he would benefit best from an experienced adopter with no young children, who can provide him an appropriate period to decompress and acclimate to his new environment. Force-free based training is also advised to help work Mighty’s brain as he seems to require much physical and mental stimulation. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the assessor, and will not allow assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog is active and focused on the assessor and all other stimuli available. His body is soft, likely panting, likely to display high movement between attempts. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game. He is focused on stimuli other than the assessor. Squeeze: Distracted, unable to perform. Jumps up licks face. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Dog-to-dog: Mighty greets other dogs with a soft, wiggly body. He solicits gentle play with bounces and bows. Mighty was slightly sexually motivated but does respond well to redirection by the handler.

08/15/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Mighty was brought in as a stray so his past behavior around other dogs is unknown. When off leash at the Care Center, Mighty engages in gentle play with female dogs. When greeting male dogs, Mason initially status seeks but is able to display soft body as the session continues. He is tolerant of the other male status seeking but will attempt to mount the other dog, ignoring the dog’s warnings, eventually letting go when handlers interrupted. The Behavior Department recommends that Mighty be placed in a home with a female dogs that matches his gentle play style. 8/15: Mighty greets other dogs with a soft, wiggly body. He solicits gentle play with bounces and bows. Mighty was slightly sexually motivated but does respond well to redirection by the handler. 8/16: Today Mighty greeted another male. At the gate he displayed a neutral body. When he was let into the pen, he stood side by side with the other male; tail high and on his toes. He eventually became soft, and was tolerant of the other male status seeking. Mighty kept his distance from the other male majority of the time, only low growling when the male jumped over him. Afterwards he turned around and mounted the other dog, ignoring the dog’s warnings, eventually letting go when handlers interrupted. Mighty did solicit bouncy play with the female of the group. 8/20- 8/21: Mighty was tolerant of a female’s persistent play solicitation but did not engage in play. He became sexually motivated, persistently mounting her after handler interruptions.
