The Democratic Republic of Congo is one of the most difficult country's in the world to work in as a journalist or photographer. Getting official permission to make photographs is a descent into the depths of frustration. Byzantine bureaucracy and a steady dose of paranoia reduce your photographs to fleeting glimpses into the rich parade of daily life. These photographs were made through the window of our van with an iPhone. While the results are better than I hoped for, the method to make the photographs is not one that I am particularly proud of.
