Princess Beatrice sliced singer Ed Sheeran's face in a mock-knighting of musician James Blunt that went wrong, it has been reported.
Sheeran, 25, had to be rushed to hospital after the 28-year-old princess, the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, swung the ceremonial blade over her shoulder without realising the singer was behind her, The Sun reported.

Princess Beatrice cuts Ed Sheeran with sword
The singer was rushed to hospital after a mock-knighting of James Blunt at a party at the Royal Lodge in Windsor.
The accident reportedly happened during a party prank at the Royal Lodge in Windsor, the home of the Princess' father, Prince Andrew, who was away at the time.
Blunt, best known for his hit 2004 song You're Beautiful, is said to have joked to the princess that he would love to become Sir James.
She then picked up a sword, and Blunt, knelt down in a mock knighting ceremony.
But, The Sun reported that when Princess Beatrice lifted the sword to tap him lightly on the shoulder, she accidentally swung it back, cutting Sheeran on the cheek.
"The blade cut into his face and it was just a few inches from his right eye," a source told the newspaper.
The bizarre story, and Sheeran's injury, came to light after he posed for pictures with fans the day after the party, showing that he was only a couple of inches away from having his eye poked out.
He had to have stitches in his cheek after the blade slashed a two-inch vertical gash underneath his right eye, the Telegraph reported.
A representative for the Royal Family declined to comment on the matter, The Independent reported.
Sheeran did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The newspaper's source said: "A couple of the guests said it could have been worse and he could have been blinded in the eye, but Ed really played it down.
"Everyone was totally shocked and apparently Beatrice was very upset. But Ed was the perfect gentleman and told her it was just an accident.
Sheeran was at the party with his girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn.
After being treated at a nearby hospital, he returned to the party.
